  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2009 Genesis 4.6L with 175k mi. Recently, it has been giving me starting problems but only when I put gas in the car. The starter kicks in but the engine never turns over. I usually have to let it sit about 5-10 min. Then, after several attempts, it'll turn over and I don't have any starter issues until the next visit to the pump...stumped!

Have someone check/replace purge valve

Does this happen at other times when you stop for 5 minutes and restart without getting gas?

It sounds like a potential battery or charging system.

No. All other starts are flawless. Cold and warm. Day or night. It only happens at the gas station.

Purge valve is likely the cause as stated earlier. And replacing the purge valve is usually easy and inexpensive.

Try stopping, remove the gas cap and don't put in gas. Put the cap back on and try to start the car.

Purge valve is likely.
