  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I received this email from Hyundai today although it says coming soon for sonata but I believe Sonata and genesis have the same navigation system so we should be getting it soon too.
The screen shot is from my iPad mini but I use Galaxy S5. :)

Can anyone confirm that the navigation systems are exactly the same between the new Sonata and new Genesis?

Carplay and AA have been "coming real soon now" for 8+ months. HMA marketing pushed it way too hard as a new feature when releasing the 2015 Genesis. Classic vaporware marketing.

We could use a good release of SPISPOPD for the Genesis. I wonder how many forum members know that that is without googling it :D

From my understanding so far it appears the standard navigation system in the Genesis is the same as the standard navigation system in the Sonata (which is really only available in the Ultimate Package for the Sonata). I have a new Sonata with that package. The Genesis Ultimate is a completely different system. So the systems are different if you have a Genesis Ultimate.

My S6 edge is ready!! :)

I really want Android Auto, but am very concerned by the delay. While Hyundai has implied that the 2015 Genesis will get it, they have been very careful about not specifically stating it. I'm betting that all of the 2015s get skipped and we don't see it until the 2016 model... but I hope I'm wrong!

Thank you. I'm looking to get an Ultimate so I guess that excludes me. Unless it's only a software or firmware update that's needed to get it working. That would be nice...

I have not been holding my breathe for this, but the fact is that Hyundai is updating the Sonata system, or have publicly stated they will, for 2015.

The Sonata system and the 8" display Genesis system are the same hardware. They are also the same O/S, although the Genesis application software is several point revisions later than that in the Sonata.

I forget where I dug the tech specs up, but I did it before I bought the car a month and-a-half ago.

The Ultimate 9.2" is completely different. I actually went for the 8" display because I really like the split-screen functionality.

On the surface, it appears that if they update the Sonata, they can update the 8" display on the Genesis - as far as the technical challenges go.

Whether they will is the big question. If Hyundai chooses not to, I can see people who are smarter than me trying to hack the update for the Genesis after the Sonata gets it.

Yea, had a 5.0 for a loaner when my 5.0 Ultimate was in for taillight and oil change. Really liked the split screen, which I do not have. Life and compromises. Heads up helps make up for that in different function.. You would think that with 9.2" they would do a split screen. Oh well.. Enjoy your feature.

Even if they upgrade the Sonata, they might not upgrade the 8" system in the Genesis until they can also support the 9.2". If they did, it would give the lower option a very desirable feature that the higher option doesn't have.

Agreed I have a new Sonata with the 8” screen that does the split function. After getting out of the Genesis and into the Sonata the first thing I miss is the HUD (really like it) then the screen. Even with the split screen feature it just doesn’t have the “Pop” of the 9 ½ screen. Oh yea did I mention how much I like the HUD?

Yea, get that.

So it sounds like this is a SOFTWARE update to allow us to get Android Auto or Apple Car Play or is there to be a re-engineering or a chip that needs to be installed? If it is just a software upgrade, then we should be able to get this when they work out the kinks, yes?

I own a 3.8 AWD Tech and I am a Hyundai salesman in the Kansas City area. We have had very little information coming in about AA for the 2015 Genesis. I am looking forward to having it because I've seen first hand just how amazing AA is on the navigation equipped 2015 Sonata. Our regional Hyundai rep mentioned that we should be seeing it as early as October of this year.

This is just a guess, but I would think that Hyundai must be getting ready to launch the 2016 MY of the Genesis and THAT model should have AA in their 9" screen. So it would seem the capability (and retrofit) should be just around the corner.

My backordered replacement head unit for my 2015 Ultimate just came in - so I'll let you know after it's installed as I expect it's the same head unit going into the 2016's that have already been in production.
