  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Out with the Kids today (10 & 7 yrs old). They are just learning about makes of cars... At lunch my 10 year old loudly claims... "You have to be handicap to drive a Cadillac!"..

She noticed that all the handicap spots out side the 3 stores we visited that day were full of Cadillacs. And none were parked elsewhere.

This led my 7 year old to question which came first. being handicapped or buying the Cadillac.. As she noticed most of the drivers were very old, she felt if you bought a cadillac you would become handicap.

This was a very loud debate. When I tried to explain that being handicap didn't lead to buying a Cadillac. I was told I didn't know what I was talking about because they had watched all day at many stores..and the Cadillac was ALWAYS in a handicap spot....

After lunch we spent 20 minutes driving around parking lots trying to find a Cadillac NOT in a handicap spot. I couldn't find one.....

My oldest then suggested it was time for me to trade the Genesis for a Cadillac because I walk with a limp since my motorcycle accident last year....

My youngest suggested that while I am broken and old , I am not old enough for a Cadillac.....

kids......

LMAO! That is too funny.

And now that I think about it, I have an elderly neighbor in my condo development that owns a newer model DTS and parks in a handicap space. Her car is painted this weird pearly pale pink....yuck. Anyway, I never noticed this before and now I'm going to be checking out the handicapped spots everywhere I go. :D

that sounds like a Marykay car....

LOL. Kids. They have good eyes.

Brand perception is longlasting. When I was growing up in the 50s and 60s, the Cadillac was THE luxury car to buy. There were no cars then from those pesky foreigners to offer any competition. So when people from our generation decide they can afford to pamper themselves car-wise, a lot of them look to a Cadillac. They have not kept up with their knowledge of cars. And of course at my age a lot of people do have physical handicaps.

The Hyundai Genesis is years away from being recognized as in the same class as a Caddy (even though it is a better car). It doesn't help that Hyundai does almost no advertising for it.

I think the DTS reflects this... I was hoping to find a CTS as they tend to be younger drivers.... I just didn't find one...
