  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

OK...there seems to be a few folks out there who, like me, think the sound on the new Gennys is flat, muddy, and worse than the Gen 1 Genny.

I get that...now, what did you do to FIX that? And did it WORK?

I'm racking the brains of every audio installer in Texas, and they've all come up with slightly different solutions...the only problem is that I haven't found someone so far that has actual experience with working on the Gen 2.

PLEASE post your trials, errors, successes and failures on cleaning up the new Genny's sound.

Thanks!!

I just ignore the few folks out there, like you, who think the sound on the G2 is flat, muddy, and worse than the Gen 1 Genny and enjoy the excellent sound system in my 2016 Ultimate :D.

Lower the mid range, which seems very boosted. The will help open up the sound. That and slightly lowering the high end help. I find it to be a very good audio system, dependent on the material fed to it.

Same here. I only have AWD Tech, but I love the sound system. Best so far among all cars I owned. I am no audiophile, and my 7.1 surround sound system at home cost less than $3000. However, I just think the Genesis sound system is excellent as you think. I believe my demand for car sound system quality is equivalent or more than 90% of other people.

Yes, Yes, fellas! I KNOW that there are the "it's great" and the "it's not great" folks out there... I wasn't here to beat that dead horse!

There are also two groups of folks out there in the "not great crowd..." the folks who cry about it to no end, and the folks who did something about it. That group of folks who did something is really who I'm trying to reach out to.

Is the system great? Yes. Is the system better than most? Yes! Is the low end on my Brown Genny as good as my Gold Genny? No, but I'm sure someone has solved that riddle. :D

I turned off the Surround Soud (un checked the box) and it sounds a lot crisper to my ears.

Bass boost +4 fills in the bottom nicely without getting boomy. There is a slight lack of presence on SiriusXM to my ears; judging by how good CDs and FM radio sound, I think that mostly reflects the limitations of the source material. I'll try unchecking Surround. Thanks for the tip.

I thought my gen 1 r-spec sounded like crap for the first couple months I had it. I was listening just to XM. When I put a quality piece of music on usb stick and played that, I got goosebumps because it sounded so good.
The compression rate used on XM kills the sound quality.
It was the best sounding car I have ever owned, until I bought my 5.0 Ultimate Gen 2

The sound system is quite good in fact very good however what really got me was the "Beats" sound system in my wife's Fiat will put the Gen1 and Gen2 Lexicon to shame. Point is I thought it was great but after the Fiat thing I reluctantly call it only good now.

It's all so very subjective, but adding an aftermarket sub (or two) lets me keep the music volume low but still feel it when I want to. With (more than enough) bass, I can tweak stock amp to favor more treble and mid-range.

Sorry folks... just too many variables to define good sound...
nobody hears music the same way.... the older you get the worse it gets.
Woman and Men hear sounds differently it's very subjective.
To my old ears the Lexicon system is one of the best sound system I ever had in a car.

Put me down for it being a quality sound system. Can't decide if the Kia Cadenza had as good or better a system but I typically like Hyundai sound systems better than most other brands of cars...especially Toyotas...they were horrible, IMO.

Many ears today have been trained to hear artificial sound from many songs and systems. Systems or speakers with relatively flat reproduction, tend to sound empty to many, when in reality it may more closely represent the original mix by the artist. While not a perfect system, the Lexicon was obviously tuned for the car and to be a flat system which relies on the recording for its sound. To many ears, it may not work and need to be boosted or changed to match what is expected, nit necessarily what it actually as recored to be.

This worked very well for me. Thanks.
