  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Charlie,

Do you know what are the problems with this ZF transmission that this kit is supposed to fix?

Charlie,

Do you know what are the problems with this ZF transmission that this kit is supposed to fix?

I will admit that I haven't heard anyone discussing problems with it. All I know is what the description on the website reads:

"...targets the root cause of multiple complaints by sealing the critical circuit pressure losses in the ZF6HP19, ZF6HP26, ZF6HP32 (Generation 1) and Ford 6R60 and 6R80 valve bodies. The kit contains uniquely designed parts to prevent the loss of pressures within the main line, solenoid regulator, reverse, clutch control and solenoid apply circuits with no special tools required..."

I was mainly thinking about doing it for preventive maintenance, rather than have something fail further down the road. If people aren't having problems with them, then maybe it would be a waste of money, I don't know. But that's partly why I put this out here,
Maybe I should also ask, do you or anyone else know if the Genesis units are "Generation 1" or later?

What the saying says? - If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. :)
I joined this forum in 2012 (12 years ago) and don't remember seeing any complaints about our ZF transmission.

On the other hand I have seen a lot of complaints about Hyundai's in-house 8-speed transmission that Hyundai started to put in 2012-2014 models.

I don't know about generation of our ZF transmission.

I guess I should've said "maybe it would be a waste of money AND time", since the process of dropping the transmission pan AND the valve body, plus dealing with little bits and pieces inside of it, could get pretty involved. I've done that stuff in years gone by, but it's been quite a while...:sneaky::unsure:
