You are correct about the 3 year timeframe on the TSB. That happened prior to the recall. Safety recalls don't expire. My only suggestion is that it's prudent not to wait. Getting a few more months out of a tire, vs. the potential of losing control of the car if a sidewall fails. If you click on the link, there is an 800 number you can contact to get more details.

I recommend Discount Tire, if they are close. I recommend the Continental DWS06 or the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. I was debating between the 2 and bought the Michelin.

    Thanks - but I didn't see a link for the 800 number

What did you end up having to pay for the Michelins? With no Discount Tire near me, I am at the mercy of my dealer when I make the recall switch. Since the Michelins cost less than the supplied Conti ProContact TX's, I would love to get them. Interestingly, Tire Rack has the front sized TX's listed on close out, so maybe they are done?

Typically from what I seen when Tirerack has a close out on a tire some are being discontinued and some are being replaced with a newer design but same tire.

I've got two from TX's with 8/32 if you are interested. PM me if you are.

I am definitely going to Discount when the time comes (probably about August or September). I have purchased 4-5 sets from them and they have performed admirably. It's worth driving a distance for this. Tires this size (low and wide) need to be mounted and balanced correctly. Driving them any significant distance with an improper installation will ruin them.

Basically nothing. I paid a small amount and then got a rebate on the Michelin tires. I ended up $3 ahead after rebate. Discount Tire policy is they will give you credit for the Hancock tires including installation. If you buy a more expensive tire, you pay the difference. The Michelin Pilot Sport A/S were slightly more, but the rebate covered the difference!!! If you pick a less expensive tire, you do not get money back (except in this weird rebate situation).

I live on Long Island, NY and don't have a Discount Tire Store near me. After reading all the recall posts, I would like to replace my original Hancooks with the Conti tire. From what I read the Huyndai dealers will only replace with Michelins. Anyone have any suggestions or know a local Long Island tire dealership that would honor the recall and replace with the Conti?

I'd think that any dealer who handles both Hankook (for the recall portion), and Conti (for the replacement) should be able to do this. House of Tires is one example.

    It's on this page:

    WHAT YOU SHOULD DO
Any consumer who believes they are affected by the recall should not wait to receive notification but should contact their local HANKOOK dealer or the HANKOOK Tire Customer Service Team at the following contact numbers.

Dealers will only do a specific replacement. You have to call your local tire stares and ask each one what their policies are. I always deal with Discount Tire and I am only familiar with their policies. They handled the entire thing, I didn't have to do anything. I even got lifetime rotation, balance, and flat repair as part of the deal.

I went out to rotate my tires today having no idea they were recalled for safety. From the outside they looked fine but checkout what I found on the other side. I would have never known this was going on if I hadn't tried to rotate them today. Needles to say if your driving on these tires change them ASAP.

My replacement Michelins didn't wear well and seemed to be noisy. I just replaced them with the Continue DWS06. So far, so good. Quiet tires.

Hi guys. PLEASE READ ! I dont do this much but i have tried to get this issue fixed with Hyundai... no luck. If you want your car to be the car you bought from the dealer... KEEP READING! I recently decided to finally take my 2015 Genesis to the dealer to get the "free tires" to replace the ones that have "too much road noise".. BAD IDEA! What the dealer recall notice doesnt tell you as that they also lower the performance curve on your Genesis. They are replacing the higher speed rated Hankook tires with the lower speed rating tires. Since they decided not to put the same speed rating of the tire which you purchased the car with, THE DEALERS ARE ALSO LOWERING THE SPEED / PERFORMANCE RATING OF THE VEHICLES!. Dont believe me ? check consumer reports. Or better yet, call this # 1-800-633-5151 . When i called the local dealer, they didnt even know about the governor being changed on these cars. Once they transferred me to the techs in the back, they said yes, it has to be done. My car is now SLOWER than when i first test drove it. Feels like a Camry now... slower. This is my first post. Next is a complaint at consumer reports, later BBB, etc.

It only effects top speed, noithing else. Unless you are driving over 130 MPH, you will never notice.

Can anyone actually confirm that after getting replacement tires Hyundai lowered the top speed? My '15 5.0 came with the cheaper Conti's but I know it will still do 145...
