    Default Wheel/Tire Fitment Question

    Members don't see this ad
    Hi,

New member here! I've been lurking around the forums for some time, but just now registered.

I've searched the forums looking for someone with the same setup I am currently interested in. I was able to find some similar setups, but not the exact one I am hoping to use. My car is a 2016 3.8L RWD Genesis (Empire State Gray) with no modifications. I was wondering if anyone thinks I will have a problem with the following wheels/tires in a square setup.

TSW Portier 20" MATTE GUNMETAL W/GLOSS BLACK LIP
    20" x 8.5" +40 Offset
    255/35R20 Tires

Thanks in advance for any advice!

    Sweet!

I'd like to get 245/40/20 tires, but the 1"+ over OEM diameter scares me. Let me know how it goes!

I did a comparison between the two tire sizes. Since its my daily driver, i wanted a bit more meat for protection. 35 tall tires will most likely kill my ride comfort and increase the risk of a bent rim

I have been running 245/35/20 on 10" wide up front and same tire on a 10.5" in the rear for the past 2 years and haven't had an issue. Feel like 35 series provides plenty of meat and protection for the wheels but it is all personal preference for ride comfort. Just drive smart and pay attention to the road. If you have quality wheels it will take a big hit to damage/bend them.

Thanks for the input xiaphin. It's reassuring to hear that you haven't had any issues for 2 years with those tires, especially since the new rims are currently being shipped to my house. They should be here later today!!!

I think I'm going to go with 255/35/20 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires. I'll probably keep the stock wheels/tires as well and maybe throw them on the car from January through March.

    Hey

I just installed my wheels today and I am running 245/40 and 275/35. It is ACTUALLY smooth. I am impressed. It is quiet too.
I have received alot of head turns today. So far so good.

Ok for those not looking to lower the car, 245/40/20 tire size is your answer. Front barely touches the fender and rear sits as if it was lowered on springs. I have about 1/2 inch wheel gap in the rear and about 3/4" in the front.
