    Default Wood grain panels

I have seen photos of the Genesis with a large wood panel that goes just above the passenger airbag and sweeps under the radio, either with or without navigation. You can see it here.http://www.autospies.com/images/user...interior-1.jpg. Does anyone know where I can get this? Is it part of the genesis?

I'm pretty sure that is an aftermarket add on. I have seen some that also do the upper door panels, more of the steering wheel and the upper back doors

Looks like the "woodtrim" (plastic) that comes on Canadian models. Also comes on US base models, but the pics shown have the Tech Package, so that is why I think it is the Canadian vehicle.

I hate that much plood. It's not even convincing when it's used in such large pieces and it's only a matter of months until it has light swirl marks/scratches.

Yes, please do post pics because I just don't believe it. I'm very particular about my cars and work hard to keep them clean and in like-new condition. Every single car I've ever owned w/ wood/plood trim show signs of minor scratching/swirl marks over time. In 3-5 years I guarantee you the leather wrapped dash will look better than the plood.

On a somewhat related side note, I *REALLY* want to swap out the wood that came w/ my black/brown interior for the dark grained wood that comes on the Cashmere interior. The only problem I haven't been able to figure out a way around is the gear shifter. Either I chang the gear shifter to the one w/ the dark wood and have mismatched leather or I leave the gear shifter alone and have mismatched wood. I wonder if the wood piece on the gear shifter pops out.

    J -
Would you be interested in a wood swap? I've got the Cashmere interior and my one big disappointment is the dark wood! If you have already figured out how to remove all of your trim pieces without damaging them, maybe we can figure out a way to exchange components? I'd think the big problem would be the steering wheel (disabling the airbag and such) and that, comparatively, the shift knob would be easy...

An old-timer secret for concealing the light swirl marks is Lemon Pledge. Motorcyclists have been using Lemon Pledge for years to conceal the swirl marks that plague motorcycle windshields. It also works really well on most plastic surfaces that are prone to swirl marks. It is not perfect, but it is surprisingly effective.

    There are more choices here

Real woods are available from the descriptions, as well as other finishes. I have dealt with them on my spoiler, and am quite pleased.

    Smile Re: Wood grain panels

I just found this site for wood grained steering wheels. There are other sites, but at less than $400, KAI was (surprisingly) the priced site I could locate.

I haven't ordered it yet.l I'm awaiting info on how hard it is to install as a do it yourselfer.

Here's their response to my inquiry:

    ****************

    Hello Dave,

We have the OEM Wood grain steering wheels in stock. However, there are 2 different kinds.. please see the following link:

    http://www.koreanautoimports.com/sto...oducts_id=2989

The "black" steering wheel has the maple color wood, while the "beige" steering wheel as a darker zebra pattern wood.

2010 Genesis 3.8 Sedan, Black with camel interior.
Voice Recognition (Phone, GPS, Radio, etc.) in 2010 Premium Navigation Package (not the "Tech Package").
Add-ons: Chrome side body molding, door & window pillars; Wing Badges on Trunk, Hood, Steering Wheel and wheel hubs; Mud guards; sidemarker lights; rear bumper reflectors.
Thinking about wood trim steering wheel, but intimidated by $400 price. Shopping for attractive, affordable roof or trunk spoiler.

I love my 2011 4.6 interior the way that it is except that I think the cup holder lids, both front and the ones on the rear arm rests should have the same wood grain as the rest of the car. It just seems like it is missing.
