I just received a post card today about a recall on the Genesis. So I called my dealer and told me to bring the car down. Apparently it stated on the post card Hyundai Campaign #T56 and they performed a ECM Update. Did not notice anything wrong before and still drives the same after. They told me they had to update the programming on the Engine Electrical. Just a heads up to all. God I love this car! Mine is Cabernet Red Pearl and I just love all the BMW, Lexus and Mercedes drivers trying not to have me notice them looking.

Interesting! No campaign with that number on the Service Website, however, there is a new TSB which is quite interesting. Everyone should print a copy and store with your manual:

Thanks for that link! I'm certain that will prove useful in time!

reportedly, in several cases, a certain problem on ECM from Delphi caused the sudden stop of the car while driving in Korea. this is all about why HMA does that recall(ECM update) in advance.

Yeah, that's what i heard. Sudden stop -- that sounds dangerous.

Thanks for the info on the recall. I have not received any post card, but it will be worth the trip to the dealer to have them do their thing.

I have a Cabernet Red Pearl as well....dittos regarding other drivers!

I went to the dealer today to see if my car needed to do the ECM update. They checked their computer and it looks like they already did the update before they sold the car to me.

    Hmmmm...

I have not received any postcard or notice of any recall yet.

I'll be looking for that in the mail.

It's in here somewhere else, but you all need to be signed up at this site. It has documentation, error codes, technical descriptions of all systems and is where Hyundai dealers track their issues, including Campaigns & TSBs. Previous threads have indicated problems here with non Internet Explorer browsers during the sign-up process.

Just got a call from the dealer today for the ECM recall. I guess some people will be upset by having a recall on this car (probably even more so because of the Hyundai image in general), but I find myself not really that bothered. This car is just fantastic that I will cut them a lot more slack than - let's say - if I had paid an additional $20k...

I got the call today as well and set my appointment for Saturday 9/20. They claim they need 45 minutes.

Hmmm, I called my dealer and they haven't heard a thing. It's hard to believe the HMC doesn't have a well-tested broadcast protocol in place for this kind of thing. Perhaps I'll just call other local dealers and see if they're aware of the recall (since I'm not obligated to use the service dept of the dealer I bought from). Sheesh.

I retract my last posting. I received an e-mail from my salesman confirming the "system program update" (recall). He has offered me a loaner while I get this done (I'm also having them install the aftermarket chrome strips and the rear winged emblem). Given all the negative comments I've been reading about people's experiences with Hyundai dealers (check out the latest postings on edmunds.com), I'm pleasantly surprised to have a loaner car offered.

DISCLOSURE: My brother-in-law in the GM of the dealership, which may be a factor. I'll inquire into their loaner policy when I get in there next week.

Have seen several posts where you guys have taken cars in for this recall...Campaign-56 for the ECM. Can anyone comment on the results of that "tweak."

I just got the call today, and quizzed the dealer on why the notice was not on the Hyundai Service website. [since there have now been newer TSBs posted]. He said he had 'no clue', and he was 'directed' to call all current owners and get them to bring their car in. He said it would take 45-90 minutes but would offer nothing in terms of what they were going to do. "It's just an update we need to install" was the response.

Am I being overly paranoid, or do others sense Hyundai is trying to hide or cover something up here. If they indeed have a major 'screw up', I could see why they wouldn't want a TSB about it to make it public in the midst of the 87mil roll-out campaign. But it is disturbing that they won't tell the owner of the car what they are doing to it. It's almost like the dealers have no clue either. Korea has shipped them a disk, and told them to 'install it.' If they wanted to keep it 'secret', they could have waited for you to come in for your first service or adjustment, and just done it. The fact that they can't wait, indicates to me that this fix is for a serious problem, that they do not want in the public domain. If they notify you, and you don't bring the car in, they can use that notification as proof that you were told on such and such a date, and chose not to comply.

Perhaps EVH can shed some "internal light" on this issue.
