This month the Genesis G80 (when equipped with specific headlights) and G90 earned the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety’s (IIHS) highest rating by being placed in the TOP SAFETY PICK+ category. Both cars earned that rating within the “Large luxury cars” segment.
“Among the awards Genesis has earned for design, customer appeal and appreciation, this IIHS designation confirms our commitment to build vehicles whose safety is rock solid,” said Erwin Raphael, General Manager of Genesis Motor America.
To qualify for 2018 TOP SAFETY PICK+ designation, a vehicle must earn good ratings in several test categories. The G80 and G90 achieved those ratings in the driver-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests, as well as an acceptable or good rating in the passenger-side small overlap front test. It also must earn an advanced or superior rating for front crash prevention and a good headlight rating.
The Genesis G90 was named the Most Loved Luxury Car of 2017 in Strategic Vision’s annual New Vehicle Experience Study (NVES). The Genesis brand finished second among luxury makes — most of them long-established industry icons.
The annual study surveyed more than 34,000 new vehicle owners after 90 days of ownership on topics that included performance, luxury and value. The award is based on the Customer Love Index (CLI), derived from the NVES.
“The G90 earned the Most Loved Luxury Car award by offering a vehicle that competes very well in the important Luxury Car segment. G90 owners love most everything about the vehicle itself, ranging from the interior roominess and seating comfort to sound system performance and overall riding comfort,” said Alex Hare, Vice President, Market Research, Strategic Vision. “Combined with a high level of standard equipment backed by a strong warranty, the G90 represents a compelling overall value, particularly in the luxury segment, all of which makes the G90 both a smart choice to purchase and an exciting vehicle to own.”
The Genesis G80 was rated the winning Premium Fullsize car in ALG’s 2018 Residual Value Awards (RVA). The award, a first for the Genesis brand, comes from ALG, the industry benchmark in forecasting future vehicle values. Winners show leading competitiveness and are predicted to hold the highest percentage of their original sale price after three years.
“Along with its balanced performance and handsome design, the Genesis G80 offers a generous list of standard features at a lower price point than that of similarly equipped luxury competitors. With the addition of the 3.3L twin turbo Sport trim to the 2018 model year, the G80 continues to garner attention and impress the crowd as it takes its first Residual Value Award for the Premium Full-size segment,” said Jim Nguyen, President of ALG.
“At Genesis, we strive to give consumers exactly what they desire and, above that, some feature value they don’t even know they need,” said Erwin Raphael, General Manager of Genesis Motor America. “This award represents the absolute third-party experts confirming that we’ve hit that moving target that we’re constantly going after.”
