Today, the 2018 Genesis G80 was named the highest-ranked “Near-Luxury Car” in the Strategic Vision Total Quality Awards. This is the second win for Genesis in the last two years, including a win by G90 in the “Luxury Car” category. “This accolade from leading industry analysts such as Strategic Vision affirms the positive sentiments of our customers,” said Erwin Raphael, Executive Director, Genesis Motor America. “We are humbled to receive this award on behalf of G80.”
G80 was designed to surprise and delight its owners, as well as respect their time. The powertrain lineup comprises three refined options: a 5.0-liter V-8, a 3.8-liter V-6 and a 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged V-6. G80 3.8 provides core volume luxury with unsurpassed standard features, while G80 3.3T is the ideal combination of sport style and turbocharged performance. G80 5.0 is the ultimate expression of luxury, convenience and performance. Each engine can be ordered with either rear- or all-wheel drive. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, as are advanced driver safety features, including Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) with Pedestrian Detection; Smart Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross-traffic Alert; Lane Keep Assist; Driver Attention Alert; and Dynamic Bending Light with High Beam Assist.
Earlier this month it was announced that the Genesis GV80 Concept SUV and G80 Sport mid-luxury sedan both won 2017 GOOD DESIGN® awards. Genesis joins other transportation, electronic, consumer and lifestyle product brands in receiving the annual awards from The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design.
“We believe in the power of design to seduce and inspire the human spirit,” said Erwin Raphael, General Manager of Genesis Motor America. “We’re pleased that GOOD DESIGN® is a mainstay recognition going well into its seventh decade and couldn’t be happier to accept their acknowledgement of our dedication to design.”
The award, the oldest of its kind, was founded in 1950 by legendary designers, Eero Saarinen, Charles and Ray Eames, and by architecture historian and philanthropist, Edgar Kaufmann, Jr. This year’s jury met in San Francisco and New York, selecting award-worthy products from 46 countries.
