Fuel Pump

Well I don't believe this has happened to anyone yet but my 09 4.6 with less than 25 thousand miles just had its fuel pump go out on it. luckily I wasnt on a busy road at 1:40 in the morning haha and was able to push the car off to the side of the road. My dealer said that they have never see this happen before and well since that being the case they didnt have the part in stock so im out with my Genesis till friday

Has this happen at around 23,000 miles. I was driving fine, shut car off. 5 minutes later hit start, and the engine refused to start. Towed to the dealer and replaced pump and all is well. Weird. I've used Sea Foam in the past when storing car for winter, and some people have opinions that Sea Foam is too harsh and this may have caused the problem. Who knows.

My experience with fuel pump failure (previous ride) has been that I would run he fuel tank to low.

The fuel acts as a coolant and lubricant for the in tank pumps.

First and last one cost me $120 dollars to replace and $50 in towing charges to get it home.

Moral of the story for me is “Never let fuel tank level go below 25 %, preferably 50%” Cost effective in the long run.

BTW never lost a pump after I kept the fuel tank level at these levels.

yeah no Sea Foam used here ever on my car since well I live in Fl...lol but yes it did exactly what you described. very strange

Another reasons why you dont want to do that is because with these in tank fuel pumps if your low on fuel its working twice as hard to get the fuel on demand there for causing wear. In my case I had a half a tank and this took place.
