  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Ok I wanted to ask the experts. As I shop around on the internet for the pre-owned Genesis of my dreams, I have seen a number of examples of what is listed as a 2009 4.6, but it doesn't have the technology package? I thought all the 4.6 models came fully loaded with the better leather, tech package and premium package?

Now I am looking at '09 and '10 models, so maybe things were different with those years.

What say you folks?

the tech package was optional in 09&10, it does have premium leather etc., though, let us know the price you paid for the used one, I purchased a 09 used with tech package for 27k 16k miles on it
Also keep in mind that the warranty on the electronics expire in 3 years of original purchase

In addition to what is noted by csnbharathi, there were some suspension tuning improvements made in 2010 model year.

I am doing my homework now, and will be buying in October. The prices for the 4.6 loaded with about 35k-45k miles listed at about $22-25k. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Thanks for the info. So is the '10 model that much better than the '09 model? Once I am driving it I don't think I will notice things much. Plus, either one is a big step up from my '04 Maxima.

The 2011 4.6 Genesis also has smart cruise control which is by far the best on the market IMO.

I would do a test drive over some rough roads to make sure you are OK with the 2009. Often times the problem is more noticeable at slower speeds rather than at highway speeds, but it depends on the road.

Just picked up my 09 certified 4.6 with tech package for 22.9k, has 22k miles...there are deals out there.

Agreed - my 2009 will porpoise at the right speed on certain local bridges with crowned pre-stressed concrete sections. Fortunately none are on my regular routes. Otherwise it's very smooth on the highway.
