  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am trying to compose a DVD-A using music from bluray disks and DVD-Video disks.

With help from elshagon, I was able to create one. However I am having issues in playback, if i play the DVD-A, the music is slow you could see the seconds go from 2 to 1 then 3, then 3 to 2 and then 4 etc., I tried Sony-R media and +R media (Single layer)

The MP3 on a DVD/CD plays fine, the Audio CD plays fine too.

Is my audio system just dead or it is the DVD?

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I'll get back to you in the next day or two on that program you're looking for. And yes, I do have the new ELP releases ;). They can be had for about $15 each on Amazon, so get them while they last. Also I asked you before if you're using high resolution audio for your dvd-audio you're making or just dts/dolby? Because if you're not using high rez audio then there's no advantage to making a dvd-audio, it will still sound the same as if you'd just made a regular dvd.

Just curious, what software are you using to record?

I have been using DVD-Audio Solo to make DVD-A disc that will play in the Genesis.
DVD-Audio Solo is a high-definition audio application for authoring DVD-Audio/Video discs,
for Microsoft Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 personal computers.
Main Features
 DVD-Audio Solo enables users to burn DVD-Audio and universal DVD discs with audio
tracks on the PC hard disk, CDs and from live recordings. DVD-Audio discs only play in
DVD players supporting DVD-Audio. DVD-Audio is a standard published by the DVD
Forum. Universal DVD discs play in all DVD players.
This is the best way to listen to music in the Genesis, once you try this you will never put another CD in your system. You can try the demo version avaiable by Cirlinca thats what I Did.
After the trial was over I bought the program because I knew I did not want to burn another CD. This is the program that I use and it's great.

I use Discwelder Chrome to author my dvd-audio discs. I first rip my dvd-audio tracks to .mlp files and then use Chrome to create an iso image. Once I have my iso image I burn it using Imgburn.

I'm having an issue with DVD-A playback in my 2010 Tech sedan. I bought a brand-new DVD-A from Amazon, and the player won't read it. I get a "disc error" message. I tested the disc on a home blu-ray player and it works fine.

So then I put in a Video DVD, and the player won't read that, either. Same error.

Then it refused to eject that DVD, saying "mechanism error" and making a whirring sound.

Bear in mind the DVD head unit was replaced 2 weeks ago by the dealer.

Anyone else have an issue getting a DVD-A to play?

The DVD player has to be capable of reading DVD-A, which not all computer systems are capable of. AGM, it seems like they gave you a defective head unit as it should read the discs without any issues...have them replace it again. Once you listen to DVD-Audio it makes everything else sound bad by comparison, it's truly sad that the technology was so far advanced of most audio systems when it came out that the format died before having a chance to be appreciated.

Turns out it was a defective, new head unit. They are replacing again.

And yet we have new releases on DVD-A of Lynyrd Skynyrd and Emerson, Lake, and Palmer within the last month.
Go figure.

Yeah, I just wish that more were doing it still. I'd happily pay $5-$10 more for the same disc to have the higher quality. The problem is were the minority in this case, as most vehicles still don't have this playback capability.

Also the other issue is how many people truly appreciate higher quality audio music or even care? I know other car companies offer the same audio (Audi, Lexus, Acura etc.), and those people who have it feel like we do and love it overall.

Does it even pay for the music companies to cater to us?...I guess that's the bigger question at hand in a market that seems to want more quantity over quality.

That's the problem. Consumers didn't go for the high resolution audio formats because they are obsessed with fitting 5,000 songs on an ipod over having music that doesn't sound like garbage. Quantity over quality. Sure it's nice to have the option to have a huge mp3 library, but most of the time I want what sounds best! With the smaller market, record companies have mostly abandoned the formats as they can make much more money on cd's and mp3 downloads. There is some hope with bluray, but really there hasn't been many albums released on it either, mainly just music concerts. Part of the problem also was the name DVD-Audio. Most people still think it's just a regular dvd with just audio on it and don't realize it's an entirely separate format requiring a player capable of playing it.

I'm going to make an effort on this subject, as those of use who have had the chance to listen to DVD-Audio seem to truly appreciate the quality this format brings. I have a full list of the record labels and studios already, if anyone has ties to the music industry this of course would be a big plus...hint hint, wink wink lol :D. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to word a letter to the music companies that would possibly spark a renewed interest in trying to bring this format back to life? I have some general ideas but am always open to feedback, please feel free to PM me with any ideas or post them here.....lets keep this a civilized discussion !! Thanks :)

To the OP, didn't mean to hijack this thread  .....please keep us informed on the status of your DVD player.

Finally my DVD-A's arrived and they sound great. so my hardware works fine (I had my head unit replaced a few days back, due to the tech messing up the navigation during a TSB update)
