  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My wife was just quoted $400.00 for the 30,000 check. Oil, filters including cabin, check brake fluid, check hoses, rotate tires and that's about it.

Has anyone else been quoted this amount? I can go one line or buy from dealer the air and cabin filters and get them to change the oil for $30.00 dollars.

Am I missing any serious work that gets done on the 30,000 check that I have forgotten?

Sounds like a rip off to me.

Just got exact quote for my 15000 mile service. Brake fluid is complete flush and fill. Fuel injectors are disconnected and flushed with chemical. Other than that, I can't figure the price either....but I'm sure my bill will be $50 in parts. $350 in labor.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
There is no "service" required for the Genesis until it's high on miles. It's all in your owners manual. A "check" however is fine, but usually they're free especially when getting an oil change. If you haven't replaced your cabin filter yet than it's time.

Yes it is a rip-off, because there are many people who will pay the dealer for these ridiculous imaginary service intervals without asking questions. This has been discussed in this forum many times before.

You only need to do the individual "change/replace" items in the owners manual. Forget about the inspections, most of which are not actually performed anyway.

They are doing what??? If I'm not mistaken (don't have manual in front of me), no fluids are required to be replaced that early, other than engine oil. Fuel injectors disconnected and cleaned? I've never read that.

Sounds to me they are blowing smoke up your corn hole.

They are car salesman. It is their job to blow smoke up your corn hole. How can people be so naive?

At around 30k miles (50k kms) my bill included a "Brake Service" that involved dismantling, cleaning and lubricating the slides of the brake calipers, as well as bleeding the brakes. That may be part of your $400 bill. No way you should need Fuel Injectors cleaned at 30k, unless you have been using Bunker Oil in your fuel tank :D

I had my 15,000 mile service completed in December 2011. The charge was $169.95 including parts and labor. $400.00+ for the 30,000 mile service seems excessive. My service included lots of checks, but nothing that appeared unreasonable. I'd find out what the dealer intends to do and compare it against what the manual says is required.

Just checked the owners manual. It says to Replace the "fuel pump air filter" at 30,000. What is this and do they really change it. I am assuming it is near the gas tank.

Had the fuel tank air filter and an oil change on my 2009 4.6 at 30k by the dealer for about $150. The fuel tank air filter and fuel filter are two different things. The fuel tank air filter is outside the fuel tank (#7 in the pic below). Fuel filter is inside the fuel pump (#4 below), which requires removal of the back seat to access from car interior.

does the manual recommend replacing the fuel tank filter at 30k miles?

fuel tank air filter at 30k
fuel tank fuel filter 37.5k

Your owners manual spells items out by mileage...all other items del try's to sell you are "make money" items.

My oldest son just paid $500 for his 30,000 mile checkup/service for his Infiniti G37X (I think he got ripped off but he refuses to pick up a wrench on his own so he did it to himself).

I can't imagine cleaning the fuel filters at 30,000 miles. My IROC Z28 is 26 years old and has 185,000 miles on it with no issues (ever) with the fuel injectors (did have to replace the fuel pump a couple/three years ago but I didn't feel bad about it considering the age/miles at the time.

Dealer told me they've found it's not necessary to change the fuel tank air filter at 30,000. I'm thinking about having them do it anyway at the next oil change because the manual says do it.

I was wondering the same thing recently.
For now I'm going ahead with just an inspection, oil change and maybe an air filter change.

There are two fuel tank filters. One is the fuel tank filter that they do not recommend changing. The second is a fuel tank ari canister filter. This is the one you change.

Yup, I read the manual and service interval and could not find anything about all the stuff they changed on my 15,000 mile service (brake fluid, injector cleaner, etc). $412. But, I love my Genny Rspec so much and had the $412 in my pocket, I didn't mind. Next service though, I will bring it up.
