  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

No caller ID name; just #'s only

What a nuisance. I'm glad I don't use a cell phone - I see from all these and other threads what a PITA it is. I keep a Go Phone for emergencies - costs about $9 per month. I never turn it on unless I'm using it (once this year so far) - my wife gripes that she can't reach me to ask me to pick up something at the grocery or whatever, but I like the peace and solitude.

I suppose some people would feel the same way about computers and the internet as opposed to still using smoke signals.... ;)

Not sure about iPhone, but on Android, all contacts (among other information) can be sync'd with Google automatically, so in the event you switch phones, all you have to do is add the Google account to your new phone and *presto* you are done. No going between phone, laptop, PC, Mac, iTunes or whatever, all that is done on the phone itself; no need for any external devices to accomplish such a simple task. Further, if you want just specific contacts in-car, all you have to do is link those contacts to your phone, select which contacts to display, and those can be sync'd with the car. Again, all on the phone; no external devices required to accomplish.

Syncing contacts to your car is a separate issue; all that needs to happen is transfer of your phonebook (whichever one you select) to the car via BT. Granted, if you change, edit or update your contacts, you need to re-sync with the car so it can reflect those changes if so desired.

I'm sure you're right. I have 4 outlook accounts, gmail and live on my phone. The contacts are in outlook and gmail. Not sure where the icloud is backing up and downloading from...probably the laptop and outlook.

You know that Genesis owners are for the most part undercover Buick owners i.e. the demo/psycho slants older when someone posts that they don't need no stinkin' smartphone.

BTW, I got 18mbps on LTE. 3x what I get through cable internet.
