Free Map Update

Buying a 2010 Genesis 3.8 and called mapnsoft.com about the map software. While my car has a 2008 version of the map in it (?) the latest update is a 2010 update, v4, that is only sold directly to the dealers and they, apparently, can charge whatever they wish for the product. My dealer in Raleigh said the update would cost me $249 for the DVDs then the dealer would have to install (at whatever rate they'd charge for that, I have no idea). The mapnsoft guy said that updates usually come out in the fall so I think I'll wait till then. He even took my contact info to send me an email when an update for my car is available. Guess I can start saving now...

Looks like they have an update for the 2009 maps (mine are now 2 years old).

What a scam. I bought a Garmin 40LM that comes with free lifetime quarterly map updates. Normally sells for about $120, but I got mine for $90 shipped from Best Buy when it was on sale.

Looks like they have an update for the 2009 maps (mine are now 2 years old).

I don't know but some of the updates deal with the interface of the vehicle as well. I know when they updated my 2011 Sonata Nav, some small options changed with the settings, which was nice.

I got a letter from Hyundai late lasr week offering free map update as well. I plan to contact Mapnsoft to see when they will or have releases the latest map update, keepung my fingers crossed that it was very recent or in the next month as the letter says it is only good till 31 Dec 12. Need to take my 2010 3.8 in soon anyway because whenever I press the voice command button it delays, says "please wait" then takes commands but freezes up the control wheel and the channel up and down buttons on the steering wheel. Anyone else come across that problem?

Yes, I have had that problem and it is an Amplifier software bug, not a Head Unit issue. It was the main reason I asked my dealer to apply the software update mentioned in TSB 12-BE-012-1 on my car last month. So far so good.
The workaround I was using to get voice command to work again was to reboot the Amplifier by going into the "Full Eng Mode" Menu and reset UTA. See this post for details: http://www.genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showpost.php?p=89975&postcount=14

I believe the latest map update discs from mapnsoft version 6D01 also come with the latest software update for the Head Unit and Amplifier.
