  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just curious if anyone's dealership washes their car while getting routine service. I came from Acura where they do a full inside and out wash and dry for free. Just figured buying a 45k R Spec they would wash the car while servicing but they didn't.

Mine does, but it's not because it's an Equus or Genesis. Any Hyundai driver gets a free wash at any time, not just service visits. Pretty common in suburban Chicago.

I tell my Dealer specifically "do NOT" wash the car. I don't need some minimum wage bucket jockey dragging dirty water across the paint, causing swirls and scratches.

To illustrate: I was at a local Ford Dealer looking at trucks last summer. I was in full view of their wash bay, and was watching some kid in the detail bay washing a black F-350. He dropped the mitt on the ground, and promptly picked it back up and proceeded to drag it across the hood!

Agree, as I had spent $ on fixing what the dealership did to my car (I have some fault also), and my dealership offers free car washes anytime even without a service app. as long as you bought the car from them.

I don't let them touch it anymore:cool: Don't think anyone would want their $40,000+ car marred by the dealership either.

ditto always say do not wash, as swirls and scratches are easily visible on black.

My local dealer does for any hyundai purchased there, however I tell them not to wash it. They do not understand the concept of drying a car with a clean microfiber cloth. They seem to like drying cars with wet DIRTY rags.

It's dealer specific and has nothing to do with manufacturer. Some dealerships have wash bays and others don't. Some do it for free, some charge.

+1

This goes for my local Acura dealer, they looked at me as if I was nuts to pass on the free washes.. Almost 4 years & 37k miles later, they can barely tell I have any mileage on my Acura MDX because of the care I show to the paint & interior-- even dirty, it looks cleaner than some of their dealer cleaned customer cars coming out of their detailing/window etch bay. I almost forgot to tell them not to wash once; I was being transported back to work (didn't want to wait on a loaner vehicle that was coming back) and called immediately when I got back to my desk, thankfully my car was still up on the lift.

From then on, I had my service file noted,' Do not wash/clean vehicle -- Per Customer Request ' ...and when I have a new service adviser check me in, they are always thrown off by it-- some have inquired. I just tell them, my cars never see an automatic wash bay, nor will they.

Two bucket hand washing & quality MF's for the win.

My Hyundai dealer does it. My Pontiac dealer did it.

So I don't think you got something special at the Acura dealer.

My dealer provides you with a script to have your car washed at a professional car wash a few blocks away or they will take it there before they return the car to you.
I always take the script and give it to my wife for her car.

I told them NOT TO as well...i felt bad telling them why so i just told them i had an appointment with my detailer ( white lie ) My dealer is sooo nice to me i really can't bring myself to tell them the real reason lol

mine was going to wash by default, but I asked them not to. If anyone is going to scratch the car it is going to be me.
:)

I wasn't thinking I was getting something special from Acura. I just thought most dealerships offered this. My dealership is largest Hyundai in Tennessee so I assumed they would. It's not that I even want the wash. It's the principal. Thanks for the responses.
