  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The volume in the audio settings is rather low in my 11 4.6 sedan. On my last car I ran straight pipes and could get enough volume to still hear the audio at full throttle. If I went to straight pipes on the 4.6 I don't think I would be able to hear the audio at all. Is this normal?

No not normal. At 60 mph we hear all music very well at a setting of 5 to 8. Somtimes run it up to about 26, after that its too loud to enjoy. You may want to check the volume of the exact same music on another system. Some of my MP3s have lower volume than others.

If you ever had the privlage of hearing the scream of a F1 inspired V-10 you would understand. They were remote control electric cut outs, but I nevewr closed them. I'm 63 if that tells you anything.

Same problem with the radio MP3 and all audio functions. Ran mine up to 35, didn't want to go any higher as I was afraid I"d blow the speakers.

Deafness from straight pipes?

Was not aware that your state was that forward looking.

Yaw, we all herd about all those fancy do dad's in beteen tipping all those cows. My hearing may have been impacted by working in the largest cereal plant in the world. It was owned by the Quaker Oats Company and we had those big cannons that shot out all that puffed rice and wheat.

On most cars cutouts don't sound very good. The sound is, well, unrefined. Full exhausts can be almost as loud and often sound far better due to eliminating some of the more undesirable traits (ie raspiness) of the exhaust note.
