  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Headlights go out when signal is on - WOW!

Obviously the problem has a very simple solution. Have your dealer check the blinker fluid level. This is a common issue when the blinker fluid is too low.:)

welcome to canada bro, you will see 90% of drivers driving at night only with DRL meaning there are no taillights on or low beams...LOOL The DRL as it is in Canada IS BAD!!! Carmakers making this option like Dodge, Chrysler, Audi, etc... are ST-d...go to north europe where the DRL is mandatory they do have it but it works DIFFERENT, side/turn signals or low beams are NOT attached to DRL!

where the hell do you live in Canada that 90% of drivers don't turn on there headlights at night and only drive with drl ?????? Sure once in a while there is an idiot who somehow forgets to turn on his lights at night but even that is rare to see

Okay guys, I think he may have the same issue I have. (If he is referring to this)

When the light setting is put to ON not AUTO, when changing lanes and turning blinker (either way), the headlights go crazy along with the fog lights.
This is the video I took on my phone the first time this happened. I took it to the dealer and they cleaned the grounds, etc and claimed this was the issue but that only worked for around a month (or whenever I tried it last).

Now it's the same issue again, so back to the dealer I go. I wasn't really concerned with it or no rush as it only happens when I turn headlights to the ON position, but it doesn't do it when in AUTO. Weird huh?

Here's the video I uploaded:

I bought a US Spec 2010 3.8 over the weekend and noticed this tonight for the first time. Very odd indeed. I plan on taking it in to the dealer tomorrow to see if they can look at it.

Wow... I haven't seen that on mine, thankfully.

I know I shouldn't do this, but I do: I always keep my headlights ON, day or night. Sure, I'll go through a lot of bulbs, probably... but it just looks too sexy not to!

It's a faulty switch, get it replaced by the dealer and it will fix the issue.

I do the same thing, largely because I believe it is more the number of on-and-off cycles of the headlights that will kill them instead of steady "on" use. For example, every time I drive into my garage, and every time I drive out of my garage, etc.

Any experts out there??

I'm no expert, but the HID bulbs will last longer than most will ever own a car factory equipped with HID. In just a couple years of use the OEM 4100-4300K factory bulbs will be closer to 5000K with a lot of hours in use.

Personally, I have some weird control issue and I like the feeling of turning on or off the HID's myself:D

Strangest thing - we noticed in our 2012 Genesis that when we put the signal on, the corresponding head light goes off. We checked this out looking at the reflection of our lights from the rear of the car in front of us.
When we signal left, the left headlight goes out and the same when we signal right.
Is this something normal or????

I have a 2011 3.8 and do not have running lights and my lights turned off twice today when I activated the right turn signal. Only time it has happened. But I have had the headlights go out twice for no reason. First time I simply touched the switch and they came back on. Second time I had to turn the switch off and then on again to get them to come on. Weird. A new switch is on order but I am not convinced that is the problem.
