  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi there.

My name is Mike Litsch. I work for DiabloSport Inc., a world wide leader in mostly domestic gas and diesel handheld tuning solutions.

We have been watching this market for a while now, and we are strongly considering the idea of bringing a handheld tuner/remote custom tuning solution to the Genesis world.

Some of you may be familiar with some of our past and current offerings. We've been offering full custom tuning for the entire Mustang lineup since the late 90s, we were the first to ever offer any tuning for the 05+ Corvette applications, we offer the only true custom tuning solution for all 05-current HEMI vehicles, and we even have a very strong presence in the SRT4 Neon market....yeah, we like tuning boosted vehicles too

I'm here to gauge interest, and do a little homework, thus I have a few questions for the community....

So far with the limited info I have gathered, it looks like the 09-12 2.0T models are pretty similar, and use the same PCM. The 13 got an electronic WG and some other changes, but is it the same PCM?
Whats up with the 3.8 V6...seems to be the most untapped market. How many V6 guys are out there ready to shell out some cash for a handheld device that ships with preloaded tunes for premium fuel, allows end user adjustments to specific parameters, and can accept custom tunes from our CMR software through tuning dealers (via email or on the dyno), and allows datalogging, code reading/clearing, etc...?
Same for the 5.0 guys....I haven't seen anything for them yet (maybe I haven't looked hard enough?).

Can anyone provide part numbers for the various PCMs? That gets the ball rolling...
Anyone have a spare PCM they would like to get rid of?

I've heard some rumors of an open source project....anyone working on that who may prefer to get paid, well, hit me up

We're open to talk with any of the companies currently offering tuning solutions, as we can offer a huge worldwide distribution network, and these types of collaborations can be good for everyone in the long run.

I promise I'm not here to sell anything, and I hope there are no vendor rules being broken here. I promise we'll sign up to support the forum the day we have something to sell you guys, just like we do on countless other forums currently

Anyone that has info to share, we're all ears.
Any questions you have, fire away, I'll do my best to answer them.

Hopefully the demand for the tuning solutions we offer is as prevalent as I think it is, and we'll see this market grow like so many others we have jumped into.

Thanks!!

Welcome, Mike. Let's see how this plays out... Sounds interesting.

Interested 5.0 2013

Hell yeah, Mike! I would love a Predator tuner for my 2012 5.0 Genesis. Love the product; have owned them for past cars: Mustang, Magnum R/T & SSR, among others. :)

AFR's indicate the stock tune is very conservative. Please deliver something for the 5.0 guys....

There are products for the 3.8 coupe (not sure if anyone has tried it on the sedan yet...)

As for the 4.6 - Hyundai will not be perusing any further development on that motor -- It was phased out of the N/A market. So making a tune for it might not see much ROI.

Put me down as interested for the TAU 5.0

OK...interesting.

Anyone got any info on the 5.0 PCM?
New, different, same as the V6?
Anyone got a part number??

Thanks!

Very interested in a solution for the 3.8

Man, I'll be honest, I was hoping for about 6 pages by now, not 6 replies :)

Am I on the wrong forum??

Mike,

You are correct in your assumption... This isn't a primary coupe forum, there are others out there. However, there are large amount of sedan owners on this site.

Accordingly, the demand would be geared toward the Lambda 3.8, and TAU 4.6 / 5.0.

I personally do not have a spare ECU which I can ship to you for my TAU 5.0. If your serious about working up a tune, I would have no problem working with you through my local tune shop. We have a indoor AWD Superflow dyno and can provide feedback and testing if need be.

Coupe or sedan, if they have the same PCM, they're all the same to us :)

Tune development is way out, we have to start with the PCMs first, but I have to be able to show some serious demand before we send a few engineers to town on these controllers...

Thanks

In addition, i would add that as opposed to many web forums for cars that consist of hundreds of young enthusiastic owners that would respond to your post with interest in your product and then having 90% drop out when the time comes to pay, i believe many sedan owners here would be willing to purchase once the product shows finished results. Imho...

With that in mind, I don't see a problem starting a list.

If other owners are serious in development of a tune, feel free to add your name, model year Genesis, and motor type (be sure to note DI or MPI).

(Mike - I have some contacts within the industry... I'll let you know if I can send something your way.)

I would love a handheld option for tuning.
If you post this in the Genesis Coupe forum you will get a lot more responses. its a different forum but if you google it you will find it.

2013 5.0 R-spec here I would love a tuner for it. The factory tune seems a little rich to me, I know there is allot more potential in this car. I'm a mustang guy and I have had your products in the past.

Mike,

Welcome and glad to see you're considering this. I have a 2010 Coupe 3.8 Track A/T which I had "reflashed" by a company called PowerAxel which is now out of business. I was pretty much satisfied as it increased my mileage, got me better throttle response, increased my torque & hp, and raised my rpm limit. There are a couple other companies that offer "tunes"; SFR and BTRcc, but from what I've read, seen and heard, people aren't very impressed with them either.

I really don't understand all the "lingo", but I posted your information in my other group I belong to on Facebook (they said you probably wouldn't be able to post in gencoup.com forum, and if you did, they would delete it saying you're not a "supporting vendor" and the post would be deleted) and one of the guys there is going to get the information you asked for and get back to me and I will get it to you!

I also have a 2012 3.8 Sedan but the engine is different from the 2010 Coupe 3.8 (Gasoline Direct Injection versus fuel injection and an 8 speed transmission versus a 6 speed) making 348 hp versus 306. As soon as I get the information, I'll post up again. Thanks!!!

Good to see some more interest over here.

If anyone is interested, please feel free to check out the topic on Genesis Coupe, it has taken off, and is getting a lot of interest :)
