  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2010 Genesis and the ipod cable doesn't work in the car. I receive a "data error". I initially had a 2nd generation thinking that was the problem, so I purchased the 5th generation, but my ipod is still not functioning..

Please, what can I do to fix this problem..

Thanks in advance

Update! I have a 6th Generation model MC525LL and am experiencing the same problem. I have a 2013 Genesis with Tech pkg rec'd 2/5/13. It doesn't play on IPOD setting at all. It will play one song and then stop (even though IPOD is still playing) on the Aux setting, No names of song or anything else shows.

I plan to talk to dealer personnel in the next week or two ...when I have a chance to get to get there on this matter.

anyone have any info so I don't have to go in? If not, I will post update if I find anything out on this matter.

Are you using the usb cable that came with the ipod or the official hyundai cable that plugs into the usb and aux jack in the armrest?

Make sure you're using the Hyundai cable with the Apple 30-pin to lightning adapter. Should work. Mine does.

That is funny because my ipods will not work with the hyundai specific one, its the cable with the aux on it also. My Ipods only worked with a regular Ipod USB that you would use for charging.

I spoke with service dept today and they said that they have been in contact with factory regarding this and they expect a service bulletin to be coming to address this problem with the various IPODs and their problems. Let's hope that will happen soon.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.. I was able to make my iPod work through Bluetooth, but I have to toggle between using my phone and listening to music through my iPod..

But I see that I will need to purchase the Hyundai aux cable and the 8 to 30 pin adapter to keep from toggling.... Good grief. But if it will work, I will take it..

Lets hope because using all of these extra cables can be a nuisance.

My sons iPod shuffle uses the regular cable as well, but my 2nd or 5th generation doesn't... can't explain it

I have the 5th generation Ipod Touch. Went to Radio Shack got an adapter that plugs into the Genesis usb cable. Worked like a charm. Radio Shack guy knew what I was talking about. Take your Ipod and usb cable in with you.

I just traded in my 2010 4.6 for a new RSpec Saturday... I kept my Ipod cable which worked fine in the 2010 with my 4th gen. Ipod Touch... No Joy with the new car... I'm calling the dealer tomorrow to see if there's a difference in the cables. The manual states it is compatible with the 4th gen so it should work... I'd appreciate it if you could post the part number for the adapter you got from R.S. just in case the dealer is no help... BTW... I'm loving the car so far! :D
Thanks in advance...

Seems the main problem is Apple products not being compatible with each other. I've had no issues with using three different mp3 players (non-Apple) and flash drive in my '12 R-spec.

Problem Solved! After trying another factory cable at the dealership today without any success, and asking the young folks at Radio Shack about an "adapter". I had a hunch and when I got home plugged in the standard Ipod sync cable and voila it works like a charm now... I can't speak to the earlier RSpec or other Ipod variations but in my new 2013 RSpec all the Ipod features are now fully functional on my 4th Gen. Ipod Touch... :D Hope this helps! Good Luck...
