Cargo net install with trunk tray?

ok, can someone post a photo of the cargo net installed? I have the trunk cargo tray, and see two pairs of hooks, but not another pair. Can I install the net with the tray in place?

The cargo net goes sideways and starts about 6 inches after the trunk lip and angles up. A little confusing at first but if you spend 5 minutes you will figure it out.

There are four anchor points on the bottom of the trunk, and two on the rear vertical surfaces (on each side of the trunk lid).

That's not installed as it was intended. The middle loops go to the hooks that are at the bottom near the bumper and the corner loops go on the round hooks by the trap-doors to access the rear blinkers.

So, it should be in an L shape, with the rear hooks over the metal loops as shown, the middle loops of the floor hooks near the trunk opening, and the front hooks over the large plastic round tabs higher up on the rear trunk wall? I'll try that, but it seems the vertical segment of the net wouldn't be stretched like that.

Maybe it would be stretched when you put something inside the net (like groceries).

I am not sure there is a right or wrong way to use the net. I currently have mine connected as you suggest. However it appears the net can be configured to hold down whatever you have in your trunk. Even items on the floor as suggested in the pictures. Whatever works. As long as you have something to attach the net to!

Indeed, which is why I didn't use the word "wrong" in my original comment

I do fine that it's easier to keep different types and sizes of objects properly stowed with the net installed as intended though. Using only the hooks that are at the bottom of the trunk means pretty much whatever goes under the net end's up squashed under it and makes it difficult to hold things upright. Using all 6 hooks means you have an area closer to the opening of the trunk where you can put objects and containers upright, leaning against the lip of the trunk, without crushing them under the net and still keep the flat area to hold things flat down. It's also quite easy to just remove the two upper hooks when you need some more access to the trunk.

In the end, whatever works for you should be "right"

Try it, I think you'll find you get just the right amount of tension to hold things in place without crushing them. If you get something heavier that requires tighter fit you can always slip it under the horizontal part of the net.

This is how mine is installed. Holds a California Duster, some detail spray and microfiber towels.

That is how I installed my net. Keeps things from rolling around and leaves sufficient trunk space for other items.

Always be sure to request the employee discount when dealing with the parts departments. It always works for me and it's especially satisfying after I hear them tell me the retail customer price. Just tell them you would prefer to buy it from them instead of on the Internet.

I recently picked up my new 2013 Genesis with dealer installed cargo net, and my installation looks more like the pocket version pictured therein.

I had no idea there were multiple ways to use the net, good to know. That said, I kind of like it the pocket way. It seemed weird at first, as I didn't expect to see a hammock when I first opened the trunk, but I can see the value after a few weeks of use. I use it to capture small items that might otherwise roll around in the giant trunk. If I needed it to, it would probably fit the equivalent of 6 to 8 grocery bag sized items.
