  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anyone have any luck on resolving the overly loud wipers that are on this car? Seriously a 10k kia wipers seem like a bently design compared to these things!

BTW I have 2010 genesis sedan, v6 no teck package.

Do they chatter? Do they streak? If yes to either I'd say the wipers need replacing. It's a DIY and takes 3 minutes tops!

Otherwise I wouldn't have a clue.

no and no.. even with new wipers they are louder then normal for any car. Thats one thing i cant stand about this car.

Sounds like its your car. Is it still in warranty? Mine are very quiet.

Sounds like a wiper is hitting the windshield trim. This can be fixed by moving the wiper arm by one tooth on the mounting.

I'll have to look into this when i get it back from the dealership. Its currently in due to the brakes going to the floor on me.

Edit: No, the car is not under the factory warranty but I do still have a extended warranty.

Mine were loud when the car was new; sounded like the wipers were rubbing over sandpaper. Turned out to be something like clear coat overspray (although I don't think that was what it actually was) that had settled on the windshield apparently during shipping. It wasn't on the paint as I expect that was covered. You couldn't even see it on the glass unless the sun hit it just right. The dealer buffed it off and installed new blades and that took care of the wiper noise. They are as quiet now as any I've ever heard.

Since it's already at the dealer, why not ask them to make the wiper adjustment, since it's apparently not difficult?

If it's like most wiper setups I've messed with its not hard at all. I'm not paying the dealership 80 bucks to fix it but Ill mention it when they call me back and see if they will adjust it as needed without additional cost.

Yep very true. I also only buy OEM blades for my Mercedes for the same reason.

The weird quirks with this car seem to be resolved by buying the stuff from the dealership.. even the dry start conditions with other filters for these cars. Thankfully neither one are over priced.

Piece of advice, the cheaper framed wipers work better than the "premium" tension wipers.

Try the Valeo 900 series wipers. I have them on all my vehicles and I really like them better than anything else I've tried. Amazon has pretty good pricing on the blades. The thread link below has more info on wiper blade experiences with Valeo and other brands.

I just installed these myself within the last couple of weeks. These work a hundred times better than the OEM wipers.

Of course, you need to clean the wax off your windshield as well if you use automated car washes.

Not proven. I've had both on many cars recently and each can have their benefits and consequences depending on wiper blade and framing quality, horizontal arc of the windshield, wind speeds, etc.

I'm using them also. Really work well, even with the winter mess we get here.
:D

FYI everybody, the Valeo's are 2 for $20 right now on Amazon.

Mine is loud too and the car is brand new.
It makes loud noise at the lower stop position and only when the car is running.
When the car at a complete stops the noise goes away as the wipers wiping away.
Go figure!
I will complain at the dealership at the next oil change.
