  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My Genny seems to have a "feature" that resets my average MPH for every fillup. I've never had a car do that. Is this normal or should I see my dealer?

The driver seat is heated and cooled. Is the cooling simply cooled cabin air circulated through the seats or are there A/C ducts below the seat to get even colder air?

The average fuel economy reset at fill-up is by design. You can also reset it manually. The drivers seat is ventilated, no A/C.

The reset of the mpg at fill up is one of the things I strongly dislike. I suspect they do that to cover up the very optimistic reading (like 10%) the readout gives.

That is an interesting point about the driver's seat. On a 4.6 the sticker clearly states the seat is cooled, not just ventilated. I guess I've "justifiably" been called a hardass; I have never used the "cool" nor the "warm" setting on the control...I don't know for certain whether or not the seat actually cools. BUT, I believe that the documentation definitely says that it is cooled using the climate control system. If you don't use the climate control, I don't know what happens.

I'd say to the OP, if you can't get it to put out cool/cold air, I'd check with the service folks to make certain.

Hmmm? I thought it was cooled. It has three different coolness settings. Feels cool to me.
I would assume that if the A/C is already on, it would use that air. Question is whether it has its own cooling system. Maybe test it on a very cold day (but I guess you can't do that in Ft. Lauderdale).

Not sure about the V-6 or the 4.6 but in my Rspec the drivers seat is definitely cooled, not just ventilated. It pulls cooled air from the same duct that feeds the rear vents in the center console, and has its own separate fan with three speeds.

Mine is cooled as well. Nice in FL during the summer :)

Great to be a member of "The Cool Ass Club"" :D

I always thought mine was ventilated, but this morning I cranked the heater up to 80 and then turned on the cooled seat. The seat and back actually got cool, so I guess I stand corrected.

All I know about the seats being cooled or just ventilated is that my seat gets very cool in these super-humid super-hot South Carolina summers. Whatever it's called, it works very very well.

There is a Peltier Junction device in the cooled seat (thermo-electric cooler or thermo-electric device). This unit has its own internal fan that is independent of the HVAC system.

The 2009 shop manual suggests it supplies heating also (which in theory a PJ device can do if you apply opposite voltage), but as far as I can tell it's a misprint and the seat heater is actually your typical electric hot wire design that is, again, independent of the cooling unit.

OK, Cool (see how I did that <G>)

OK question answered, we can close this thread. Thanks for the responses.
