DIS randomly shuts off 2009 Tech

Does anybody pay for HMAservice.com. I loved how it was free but now they charge.

I went over a speed bump too fast and the big bump really shook the genny. Everything is fine except my DIS entertainment randomly shuts off and turns back on. I'll be driving along listening to the radio and it will go silent. If I wait long enough it will turn back on by itself but usually I'll press the FM button to turn it back on.

I can be listening to Radio, CD, XM, AUX and the screen with turn to the map and the sound will go off. If I press mode on the stearing wheel it turns back on to what ever option I was last listening to. I can also press FM/AM, XM, CD/AUX button and it will turn on the respective channel.

I believe I have a loose wire and I was confident that I could perform the work myself until I found out that I don't have access to HMAService.com with out purchasing a subscription.

Can somebody post the PDF of installing and reinstalling the DIS? Has anybody done this who could give me a guide?

First try a hard reboot by disconnecting the negative battery cable in the trunk for about 2 minutes. Also you may have damage to the head unit's hard drive caused by the hard jolt.

Same as a computer hard-drive. May be slow to boot up or not boot up at all. Some apps may not start or will freeze when app starts, while an app is running it may freeze due to bad sector in hard drive. Also data may take a long time to retrieve when looking up something stored on the hard-drive. If you can document the incident and the hard-drive is damaged then your auto insurance may pay for the repair under comprehensive road hazard. I think a new drive and head unit cost over 3000.00.

I have my doubts the hard drive is damaged as the unit functions normal except the random shut offs.

I disconnected the battery terminal for approx 5-10 minutes. I reconnected and expected to have to reinput my phone numbers and favorite radio stations but they were still there. Is this normal?

I also see that I'm at software version 19 when I believe the most updated version is 21. From what I remember TSB 12-BE-012-1 should update to version 21. Does anybody have this TSB now that HMAService is a pay site?

Rebooting does not cause loss of data stored on the hard drive.
