  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Window tinting advice?

looking to tint my new acquisition, I live in South Miami, does anyone know of a huper optik tinter in the miami area?? and of the three types that I have settled on, huper, pinnacle, and llumar axcess, is there a big difference between these?? and with a black leather interior, does the tint seem darker when looking in? this is the first time i've had a black interior.
A tint job looks a little darker with black interior, unless one is looking straight through one window and out the other.

Formula One (Pinnacle) is owned by Llumar and it is their premium line. Huper Optik is thicker and harder to install on curved glass (originally designed for office buildings), and is usually several hundred dollars more expensive than most others.

In terms of price vs performance, Formula One Pinnacle is a good choice, unless price is not a factor and you want Huper Optik (and can find an installer).

You can find Formula One Tint dealers here:

+1 on all points. I have tinted multiple cars with FormulaOne PINNACLE. IMHO, it is the best automobile tint out there. I started out looking at Huper Optik, but it is not well-suited for cars. All of the installers talked me out of it. Price was not a factor in my case, and I still chose FormulaOne.

Does anyone have info, or an experience with solargard ultra performance tint film??
A dealer that used to carry huper optik says he now uses this.

I used to use this film a long time a go and it was pretty good stuff then. Ensure you get a film that has a lifetime warranty i.e. carbon, ceramic etc.

Solargard Ultra Performance may be a good choice if you live in a state with very strict tint laws, such as those that require 70% VLT or higher. Otherwise, I would go with Formula One Pinnacle.

Looking for recommendations I ran across this. Comments welcome

Not sure why that is relevant. All dealers offer tinting services, but they actually outsource it to a tint shop and mark it up to the car buyer. Typically, the tint jobs sold by dealers are fairly inexpensive dyed or charcoal films, not ceramics. However, a dyed or charcoal films may be perfectly adequate in northern climates where one wants dark windows, and not necessarily a lot of heat rejection. 3M makes an entire line of tint films, none of which are explained in detail on that website.

I've gone through nearly all of this thread and have picked up on the regularly recommended brands/material...so thank you everyone. I'm going to do some research on the above, but thought I'd ask here, as well.

thanks again

Also should mention that the film quality is really only as good as the adhesive quality. If the adhesive starts failing after only a few years after the film installation, the composition of the film means little at this point.

Ensure you know what the film warranty covers. Lifetime warranty against color change is important, but so is the adhesive performance warranty.

Finally got my windows tinted. Went to Midco tinting awesome job using Suntek Carbon 35% all around. Installer Scott only does Illinois legal limits. It only took a little over 2 hours.

I just picked up my Rspec sedan and am now looking for a proper tint shop in Lincoln, NE.

Huper Optik states that there are no installers around my area. There are also no Formula One Pinnacle installers in the area. There is a guy who does Llumar CTX though which seems to be very similar to the Pinnacle.

Would anyone know the differences between the two? I really want to do it right the first time.

Thanks.

Had 3M crystalline tint installed. 40% all around and 70 on windshield

That looks great!!

Could you take another pic from the side to show more of the tint color through the windows?

I have an appointment set up for Tuesday to get mine done and I have been fretting about it for a week. I am currently looking to have Llumar CTX done. Neither Formula One nor Huper are available in my area which pretty much narrows it down to 3M or Llumar.

Anyone have any reservations or reasons for me to go 3m versus CTX?

Thanks.

I am one of those people who made the mistake of having Huper Optik Drei 35% put on my twilight blue car Saturday. I did not realize how green this stuff was, I told the guy after he put 1 window on that I didn't like it, it was too light, too shiney and green. He said just wait until I am finished and I promise you will love it. Well I hated even more, not to mention I just spent $700.00 on this hidious green mirror on my car. I told him I wanted it taken off, so now I am in the process of trying to get a partial refund on this stuff. They only offered me $200.00 but that is not good enough so I am calling the Huper rep tomorrow to complain about the crappy tint and job they did. If you like looking at a green mirror than it is perfect for you. I am going to have the Formula 1 Pinnacle 15 installed all the way around (by a different place) Yes it is a little illegal but I have tan interior and I ALWAYS have the sunroof open so that does make it look much lighter.

Does anyone have pics of their window tint on Genesis with Light Silver Exterior and Tan interior color scheme? If so, please post pictures and let me know what tint level you got. I know that I want the Ceramic but can't decided between 35 (GA legal limit) or something a little lighter like 40 or 50. I appreciate previous posters' pics but trying to find pics of same color combo. Thanks!

A little bit illegal? Is that like a little bit pregnant?
