  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Window tinting advice?

Anyone in the metro St Louis (IL Side) have a recommended tint shop? I just went to custom sounds (national chain) and they quoted me $399 + tax for the Formula One Pinnacle @ 35 (legal limit in IL) for all windows, minus the windshield. Seems a little high and couldn't find any reviews of them. Also quoted $199 for Air80.

You need to do more research on this forum on what film to use (and why). Formula One Comfort is metal alloy bonded to a dyed layer, which means it can block radio/cell phone signals, and the dyed layer can fade. You probably want a ceramic film like Formula One Pinnacle. There are hundreds of posts on this forum about this subject.

Never heard of those brands. I just got mine tinted eith sun teck %18 not legal. I would finx someone that install sun teck i had it on last two cars. It has a lifetime warranty as well. 399 is too much. I paix 200 for mine

If you paid $200 for a tint job, it is "probably" not a ceramic tint film. Why is that important? Do your research on this forum and read all the tint threads.

My bad, the quote was for Pinnacle, not Comfort. Have changed org post to reflect this. Knew I must have put the wrong one in the thread b/c I was talking to the guy about AM/FM reception w/ the antenna on the rear window.

I paid $375 for Formula One Pinnacle 5 years ago, so I would not say that $399 is an outrageous price if they are good installers. My installer had about 20 professional tinting contest trophies in their waiting room. Prices in some markets such as Florida are lower, for a variety of reasons.

Does anyone have pics of their window tint on Genesis with Light Silver Exterior and Tan interior color scheme? If so, please post pictures and let me know what tint level you got. I know that I want the Ceramic but can't decided between 35 (GA legal limit) or something a little lighter like 40 or 50. I appreciate previous posters' pics but trying to find pics of same color combo. Thanks!

Hey Dawg,
Have you found a reputable place in the Atlanta area to do your tinting? I've been looking, and the reviews have been so-so thus far.

Depends on what tint film you want, as some films are only installed by a few installers. Check the website of the tint film manufacturer for a list of local installers.

My bad. I should've included more details.

I'm looking at doing the Formula One Pinnacle.
My main reason for asking is, it's been 15 years since I've had any windows tinted, and the couple places I used in the past were fairly sketchy. Then again, I was younger and didn't know anything about the quality of films.

I have Formula One Pinnacle on my Genesis and like it a lot. I found my installer on the Formula One Website, but that was 5 years ago. When I was searching for a Formula One installer, it looked to me that only the better installers (not necessarily cheaper ones) carried Formula One films. I believe I paid about $395 (but don't remember exactly).

I went with Llumar Air Blue 80 on 5 windows. No gangsta look for, but it keeps more of the bad stuff out than the 35% tints. It doesn't play well with polarized glasses, though, so I don't recommend it for the windshield. I paid $200, having gotten a $20 vet's discount.

That is a decent price for a true ceramic film and with air blue 80 on the windshield, but I have no idea what llumar ctx is.

I think you may be doing overkill by getting the windshield tinted if you live in TN. I could see that for AZ, FL, South TX, etc. I have one of those folding reflectors that I put on my dash if I have to park my car outside on a very sunny and hot day.

Llumar Air Blue 80 may block more harmful rays than a 35% smoked/dyed film, but not more compared to a 35% (or even 50%) ceramic like Formula One Pinnacle. In fact, Air Blue is a ceramic film.

yeah, i do live in tn. it get sunny but humid but not as humid as some other souther states. really want the protection for the leatherette and keep it much cooler than what it is now.

It's not just the heat or humidity, but the intensity of the sun's rays that plays a factor in which tint film one should get, or whether you need your windshield tinted. When you get closer to the equator, the intensity of the sun is much more harmful. Then there are extremely dry locations like AZ where there is so little moisture in the air that the sun is more intense that other locations at the same latitude. Humidity actually diffuses the sun's rays to some extent.

Suntek HP Bronze 40% Tint Job

Got my car tinted the other weekend after not being happy with my slightly less than professional attempt earlier in the week. Went with Suntek HP Bronze 40% film and am very pleased with the outcome. Pictures don't do it justice, the bronze is more visible in person. Can't wait to see how it looks when my new wheels are installed. Let me know what you guys think.

Those look like the OEM wheels for the 2009-2011 base trim model. But it looks like you lowered your car quite a bit. Personally, I think those are the best looking wheels Hyundai has ever made, except that they are 17".
