Can you adjust the angle of back-up camera?

Has anyone tried messing with their back-up camera? Mine seems angled too low and doesn't let me see much of what's in my back up path. I'd be willing to trade a little of seeing the ground just behind my bumper for a little more horizon angle.

And then, while backing up, the AV comes on and an info bar appears at the top of the screen, further blocking my view of any approaching vehicles, etc.

Has anyone tried to do this? Does the trunk lid liner have to be removed?

I've not tried to change mine. Nor would I ever. Works fine for me.

Since the red, yellow and green marker lines are superimposed changing the camera's angle might make them meaningless or at least less accurate.

Not if it's at the wrong angle to begin with - it sounds like his is misaligned. I can see practically straight down and straight behind me for 30 feet at least.

Mine does the same thing. I am fairly certain that an adjustment can be made if the liner is remove. Does anyone know how to remove the trunk lid fasteners?

I had it off this weekend. The camera is enclosed in the upper panel of the trunk. It is enclosed in a metal panel. I could not get to it. With my camera angle, 15% of what I see is my bumper. I can see the ground but not the cars behind me if someone else started backing up. ( Miata across from me) It is not angled up enough to see another car backing up across from me in my parking lot. The dealer gave me a turbo Sonata to use for a week while my car was being delivered. hey, I could see the very tip of the bumper and the rest of the screen was looking behind you, not wasting the view looking at the top of your bumper.

I have a similar issue on my 2013 which I got 2 weeks ago. I asked the service dept. to address the issue and they are quite dismissive which annoys me to no end. They are maintaining I am not supposed to see straight back. When I mention my wife's Santa Fe is angled straight back they once again are dismissive telling me its because the camera sits up higher. How high the camera is should have very little bearing on its angle and if it is higher I would argue it should be pointed down more, not less.

Is anyone out there willing to take a quick pic with their phone of what their rear view looks like? When I go to pick up my plates next week I am going to ask them to show me one of their new cars and I want to see the angle.

On my Equus if I press on the DIS knob while the backup camera is activated the camera angle changes.

Hey, everyone. I posted the original thread question back in April 2012. And I am still annoyed by the view through the back up camera. A poster here took his trunk liner off and said the camera was inaccessibly enclosed in metal. But I have recently discovered a small "fix" that helps a little. Doesn't fix it all, but does raise the view a few degrees.

I cut a piece of scrap window blind (5mm thick plastic - a little less than two popsicle sticks in thickness) to 25mm x 55mm and shoved it under the camera, between the enclosing frame and the boot holding the lens. This was done without disassembling anything . . just from the rear of the car. The length of the shim probably could be adjusted shorter, but as is leaves enough sticking out so it can be removed if desired and short enough to not appear in the rear view image. The insertion of the shim pushes the angle up just a bit.

Anyway, after two years of still not seeing a full field of view behind me, this slight improvement has helpful, so thought I would post here for others. Good luck!

I too am still annoyed by this even though the dealer insists it should be angled down the way it is. Is there any chance you can post a pic of what you did? I would like to try it out. If it gives me a few degrees that would be huge.
