  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Seat ventilation option - does it really work?

I wonder are the seats supposed to be " COOLED" or "VENTILATED"?? if you think about it, two very different things......

and mine are pretty weak sauce too. the benz e-class cooled seats are to die for comparing to these.

That's pretty easy: Hyundai calls them "ventilated" - not "cooled" in their specs and brochures!

The Gen-1 has two peltier junction coolers in the driver seat, driven by a fan. No connection to the air conditioning.

My 3.8 HTRAC with Ultimate works like a charm with the rear vents open or not. I don't have any whirring sounds and the cold is cold and hot is hot. I think it is very nice. That said, I'm coming from my last car that took 10 minutes before I felt anything with the seat warmers. I guess my expectations were low, so I'm pretty happy.

2012 cooled/ventilated genny seats worked MUCH MUCH better than the 2015. It's one of my few disappointments with the 2015

Strange, my 2012 seats were worthless in comparison to the 2015. These work quite well.

My Infiniti M37S had cooled seats, and you felt it, ventilated seats just move air. My A6 has ventilated seats and I can barely tell even on highest setting. Ventilated seats are cheap to implement, cooled seats cost more, but you will feel it.

Makes sense. A thermoelectric cooler is a heat pump. The colder its hot side the colder its cold side.

If the 2015 has a peltier it would still help to turn on the ac on the floor boards. Efficiency drops if there is stale heat building up.

They should have just run an ac duct to it and done it properly so that it's actually cold and heat is dumped outside thru the regular system

Anyone find that the seat "cooling" ventilation really makes a difference. Sounds good in the sales brochure but doesn't seem to offer me any sort of relief on the road. Am I missing something? I have a 2nd Gen with Tech option 3.8 engine

I also have a 2014 Santa Fe and you feel a much stronger effect with the air ventilation. It is not dramatic but it is there

For the ppl not feeling the difference, you are probably wearing too many layers. Try siting in your car naked. You will notice it for sure. ;)

On our 2015 Genesis the seat ventilators work just as well as they did on our Lexus GS.

I agree that by choosing the high/low air split out of the dash seems to improve the air flow, but the seat definitely cools you off.

The seat backs seem to cool very effectively, so much so that I usually move the control to medium or low.:)

I am happy with mine. Before I have driven 2km or 1 mile, I can feel cool air flowing. Dress pants/business wear on.

I have sat in my car with just the engine running (no radio) and noticed that the seat HEATERS also seem to ventilate. I hear the same whirring sound as when it is set to cool HIGH. Anyone notice this too? Very subtle

The seat heater definitely ventilate also.

I *love* the seat coolers. Never had that in a car before but coming from a Honda Accord with black leather, it's a huge difference. Definitely felt it coming/going from an interview the other day in dress clothes. Was very very nice.
