  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi bought a 2011 4.6 CPO a couple weeks ago. Am I still able to buy the HPP warranty? If so what would be needed inspection wise and would I still be able to get the CPO price? Car has 20k miles. Thanks

I have a similar question also. I asked on another thread so my apologies for double post.

I am about to pull the trigger and purchase a 2012 4.6L model with 24k miles on it. No CPO.

From what I am reading on this forum, I should be able to purchase an extended 100k miles/10 year HPP warranty for $1200 if I shop around (perhaps at J. Eliis dealer in Atlanta?)???

Or will the price of HPP warranty for used car be more expensive and vary depending on miles/age on the vehicle?

Thanks in advance.

In general, it will be more expensive.

You are not eligible for HPP if the car was not bought new or CPO.

There is a recent thread about this that is very important to read. I believe the bottom line is that if the car has more than 10K miles (Not sure if there is a time limit also), then the HPP extended warranty is going to be about double the cost ($2400 instead of $1200). There may be an exception if the car is CPO. Find the thread with the details and read it.

You are incorrect. You should try reading and comprehending Marty's experiences in that other thread. He bought his warranty with 17,000 miles on the clock. I bought mine with 22,000 on the clock.

MartyK was given a special deal for "friends and family" that I don't think others will be able to get (unless maybe in Hyundai Circle). Look at the quotes of about $2400 he got from Jim Ellis and all the other dealers who normally sell them for about $1200.

You got a good deal by shopping around. So did I.

Lots of us here found a good price after shopping around. It's just a matter of making the contacts. As I've said multiple times in various threads, I got mine at a low price with 22,000 on the clock. Original owner.

Maybe they changed the rules about mileage. Or maybe the amount you paid only applies to original owner. There are some questions in this forum about people trying to add-on extended warranty to a used Genesis (not CPO), and how much that will cost. Based on the post by Martyk, it looks like even the reliable sources of cheap extended warranties now charge twice as much for used car extended warranty that is not CPO. Not sure if that is because of the 2012 5.0 oil consumption problem, or what.

If all you got out of MartyK's post was that one can get a good price by shopping around, then I think you need to re-read it again.

Any information about the handling of lease buyout?

Because my car had over 10,000 miles (17,800) even though it was under 3 years old and I BOUGHT MY CAR NEW. It was considered a USED car by Hyundai Protection Plan (HPP), and the price range from all the Hyundai dealers on the Forum was from $2,400 to 2,649. It HAD TO BE a CPO car to get the $1,200 price.
