  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Picked up a 11' 4.6.. My thoughts if anyone cares.

First off I love the car.

I've had quite a few over the years so I have quite a few benchmarks to compare to but i'll compare to the 328I because I still own and drive it.

Two very different cars obviously.

Power.. Genesis.. Although the genesis leaves something to be desired if your looking for RIGHT NOW power. I'd describe it more of an aristocratic surge vs savage acceleration. Right foot says "Genesis I request thy power" Genesis says in English accent "Cheerio lets go"(only after determining you really meant it).

Handling
328i by a long shot. The Genesis in my opinion isn't a great twisties car. Steering is heavy when cruising and light as hell when corning.. The car is planted.. very planted but the steering wheel would have you think otherwise.

Luxury.. The 328I has some options bluetooth and whatnot but no navigation. The seats are much more comfortable in the Genesis, More room, More features, it just has more presence. After 2 days of ownership someone asked me at best buy after glaring hard for a few seconds.. " What kind of car is that?" Feeling talkative I just said "its a Hyundai". His huh expression was pretty priceless.

Electronics.. This SOB has a monster of a Stereo(lexicon 17 speaker). It give my 7.1 home theater a run for its money. The BMW has a very good stereo and in its defense its the base stereo. No match for the Genesis here. Also the Genesis has smart cruise, Nav, ventilated seats and rear camera.

Quality/Reliability.. It remains to be seen but the Genesis has big shoes to fill here. After 60k of ownership the BMW has never had an issue... Not one. Switches and knobs seem better made on the BMW. Too soon to tell but the knobs and buttons on the BMW seem better made. Its day 2 afterall though.

Very happy with my purchase and ended up paying 22,800 with 26k and every option available(for a 4.6). I have found myself making up excuses to use it all day.

I know its old news around here but I couldn't be happier about it. Hope it stays that way.

I think you’ll be very happy with it having owned a 2011 (V6 tech). Yours looks very clean and should give you good service. There’s a wealth of information to be gleamed here on this forum. Anything unusual you may find I’m pretty sure you’ll find a record of it here. Congratulations and enjoy your ride.

I love the dark brown interior. Those seem more rare. Great catch.

I also own a 2011 4.6L...... I have not had 1 flaw with this Car. In fact it was so good I bought a 2014 R-Spec this April.

You forgot 1 Very important item in your list. Ride Quality. Quiet and Smooth on the Highway. How does the Beemer stack up here?

Also, where I drive my Genny, Beemers are a dime a dozen. They are everywhere. The Genesis is much rarer and has that appeal.

Congrats on the new purchase. I am definitely sure you will enjoy the car as much as I am enjoying mine:)

Welcome to the op. Just to let you know, I purchased a 2011 4.6 with tech in Sept. 2010. I now have 135,000 miles on it and it still drives and performs like new. Reliability wise it beats BMW and Mercedes.

I really like that brown interior. It makes the cabin look relaxing:cool::welcome:

Brown interior is called Saddle and is my favorite interior as well. Too bad you couldn't get a R-Spec with that interior in any year.

totally agreed, the sound system, I dont know if I can find another vehicle with the sound system like this. I was in my friend brand new Jeep limited and the speaker sound muffle with Bass all over the place.

The Acura TL ELS sound system is on par with the Lexicon 17. The Lexicon can add more bass, but the ELS is a little crisper. Both are heads and shoulders above the rest outside of a very expensive vehicles.

I have a 2011 V8 with Lex and a 2010 Jag XKR with a B &W system. While I am sure that the larger cabin of the Genesis helps the sound, its system is a bit better all around than the Jags.
As others have noted, the better the source, like a good DVD-A the bigger the difference. And yes I know at this point DVDA is pretty much a novelty, but I have a few and they sound great.

That saddle brown really compliments that car. Gorgeous!
