  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2013 3.8 Genesis with the basic stereo. I actually don't think this system sounds too bad but I'd like a little more low end. Does the base system actually have a sub? I know the 14 and 17 speaker systems do but it mine it's either not there or maybe the amp is screwed up because there is a serious lack of bass.

I was thinking of buying this since I love JBL and since the stock speakers are made by Harmon (JBL) it would help my OCD to keep everything the same brand. LOL [ame="http://www.amazon.com/JBL-GT-BassPro12-12-Inch-Powered-Subwoofer/dp/B007GYU30K/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1412050066&sr=8-4&keywords=jbl+powered+subwoofer"]Amazon.com : JBL GT-BassPro12 12-Inch (300mm) Car Audio Powered Subwoofer System : Vehicle Subwoofers : Car Electronics[/ame]

Since the battery is in the trunk it seems like this would be a snap to hook up. I would just have to tap into the left and right rear speakers to get the signal to the amp. Has anyone else installed this combo?

All Genesis trim levels, including Base Trim, have a subwoofer on center of rear deck (although each system has a different sub-woofer model). It is speaker number 7 in the 7-speaker system. If you open the trunk, you should be able to see a hump in the trunk cover where it is located. A lot of people complain about the bass level, so not sure if you subwoofer is screwed up, but if you bought it used then someone may have blown it.

Thanks Mark! Oooops! I just realized I posted this in the "coupe" section and I have a sedan. That's what I get for using the iPad to post.

The car in question is a used rental car so I have no doubt now that at some point someone must have blown it or the amp. Balance of factory new car warranty should take care of it though. I rented a Genesis in 2012 and I recall the stock stereo being fairly good for what it was and the one in my new CPO 2013 sounds nowhere near as good. I'll investigate tonight and take it to the dealer this week.

The warranty on the audio/video/GPS electronics is a little different than the New Car Warranty, since it only lasts 3 years / 36K miles for those items. Hopefully your car is still under that limit, but probably would not hurt to replace the subwoofer anyway since a lot of people have complained about the stock one, even on the 17-speaker system.
