Round rock hyundai has about 6 base model 2013's with anywhere from 30k-35k miles. They look like they all are previous rental vehicles, but they are cpo so full warranty is in play. They have all been on the lot since it looks like June time frame, so about 4 months. I have been lurking for a little while now to get into a genesis, wondering what you guys think of trying to pull the trigger on 1 of these for the price, or what I could expect to talk them down to and still make a deal. Any input is appreciated, thanks guys.

Cost of the warranty should be no more than $1500. Their actual cost is probably around $700-$1000.

I bought my 2013 direct from Enterprise car rental for $16,000 last week. It had just shy of 40k miles. It did need detailing, buffing a few scratches, but had new dunlops all around on it.

Another forum member reported paying $17500 with the warranty on a 29,000 mile 2013 base ex-rental with a full warranty. Good value there too.

Doubt your dealer will be able to touch those prices given how long they've had them (prices have dipped recently), but it's nice to buy local. I had to pay $400 to ship mine in & $100 for the auction inspection.

Alright so I shot the sales department an email asking what they would let 1 of the genesis go for and they came back pretty quick with and offer at $19200, with total out the door at $20,719. Want to get your guys opinions on how much lower I can realistically get them down? Also, with the end of the month coming up soon, would it be better to wait it out a week or 10 days to see if they will come down even more just to make a sale at the end of the month? Obviously, I want to get the absolute best deal possible, and as bad as I want to get a genney, I do have another car, so its not a must buy situation. Any advice you guys can give is welcome, thanks again.

Also, at some point they will be willing to take a loss right? Or are they more inclined to send it back to another auction for sale to another dealer?

I think if you waited a month, you'll find the retail prices coming down and can fetch one for $18k. I'm was fortunate enough to have a dealer's license and buy direct from the rentals. I was bidding against a local Hyundai dealer when I bought mine, and paid a little more than the average going rate because of the color (black/black) and condition. So if they are buying them for $16k, with reconditioning they will ask 20k and take 18k if you really twist their arm.

Chances are, if they were bought at auction back in June, they paid $18k for them.

The local Hyundai guy saw my car and said I paid a good price, but he only buys the ones that have NAV and a roof. He never made money on a base ex-rental.

$19,900 for a base model with 30,000-35,000 miles is way too high.
That would be a good price for a base model with 3,000-5,000 miles.

Offer $15,000..

I can tell you one thing, as longer the car sitting at the lot, the more money dealer looses , usually it's good to sale car in one month, 4 months and it's counting as money looser, so I think you could get better deal easily.

Maybe they would have a NAVI installed to replace the stock radio as part of a deal? That would spruce up your experience with the car. Just s thought.

Your offer is below wholesale auction value. Why would they sell the car below what they are going for at auction, especially considering they paid for detailing, reconditioning, and the warranty?

When someone makes a ridiculous offer like that to me I'm pretty quick to broom them out. Happens too much. One of the many reasons why I'm closing up shop in December.

Yes, but they are not going to compound the loss in interest/opportunity cost by taking a multi-thousand dollar bath on it. I'm Guessing $19200 is a pretty thin margin for them considering they paid about $18k for it and buying the certified warranty.

^^^ that is very handy. Thank you for putting that up for all of us too. Can you tell ️here what options they had? Or is this all base models? I assume all 2013?

Thanks.

Wondering if there could be future problems with some of these higher mileage rental vehicles?

No way for them to differentiate between base and upper models, but nearly all of the going through are base models from rental companies. You can tell because they say lease vs factory.

It does differentiate on the V8s for the 4.6, 5.0 and 5.0 Rspec

These aren't the kind of cars people rent to flog, and you know the maintenance was done on time. Mine had 4 new dunlops put on right before they sold it.

Great value versus new. More than enough to buy a warranty if you're worried about it. I'm on the fence, as I'll be putting 40k miles a year on this thing and most likely won't get my money's worth on such a short time frame.

I bought a 2013 base CA lease in Phx with 16k, and it was mint. Took off cross continent put 5500 miles on it, average 31 on hwy, at 75+. The nicest ride I've ever had. Did have to put a new set of tires though, when I got home.

On the surface it seems like a fair deal but it is my understanding that it would not come with roadside service which might be quite desirable in the event of a break-down on the road.

I bought my base 2013 for $24,880 with 3,080 miles on the clock but it was a "loaner" and came with the full warranty being the first retail buyer. It is essentially new in all respects.

Just be sure that you can live without the telescoping wheel as it is tilt only. And if you want a back-up camera you'll need to go the UNAVI route.

There seems to be a number of these base models available so it would pay to shop around. I think I saw a ton of them over at Van Hyundai the other day. There are 13 of them over at Van Hyundai and they are new 2014's starting at $26,240. There are also two 2013 used there but without the CPO; about $20K asking price and mileage in the 30's.

What about the tires? Have they been replaced yet? Texas roads are notorious for short tire life with those chip and seal roads. What about dings and other signs of wear?

The CPO is about a $1,400 premium that is added to what it would be without it. Is it worth it? Depends on how long you intend to keep it.

Does the "out the door" price include the sales tax or is it a bunch of junk fees? Make sure you are comparing apples with apples. Documentation fees, extended warranties and bump sticker items and the like are all rip-offs for the most part. Be careful. Just remember you are dealing with professional liars. That's the brutal but honest truth. I paid $1 documentation fee and nothing more.

Ever heard the term "buyers are liars"? Everybody lies to everybody. Sellers lie about the condition of their trade in, finances, credit. They are "just looking" and the next aggressive salesman gets the sale. "That's all I got" when they have more money in their other pocket. "I gave the car back" noooo it was repossessed. I've probably been told 100 times their trade in has no problems and find a check engine light on the moment I start it up.

Alright, so went and picked one up yesterday! Nicest riding car I have ever owned. Got it for 18800. Traded in a mariner that I owed 12,800 on, they gave me 10,200, which was fair trade in based on mileage and options, plus it was soon due for tires, service, etc. Also, only paid taxes on the difference in price, less than 300 in dealer and reg. has 10 year/ 100k warranty with roadside, brand new tires. All said and done, just over $22k. Very happy with the final outcome, although it was a bit annoying having the salesperson go back and forth 5-6 times to speak with the manager, especially since I had the wife and baby with me.

Congrats! That's around the same price I just paid for my 2013 CPO base.

Good Job! I too just picked up a CPO 2013 base, great machine so far.
