My wife has a 2012 Genesis with around 35K miles. We are having a problem with slow throttle response from a dead stop. Obviously quite scary when trying to enter traffic from a stop. We had the vehicle back to the dealership after we purchased the car and they indicated that this condition is normal. ????? It is happening more frequently. Anyone else experiencing similar problems? Suggested fixes?

Sprint-Booster has dramatically changed the character of my car. It's a bit overpriced and some overstate its benefits, but it unquestionably quickens the throttle response from a stop and especially while rolling.

The sluggish throttle response is a result of fuel-efficiency minded throttle programming in the drive-by-wire system used on most modern cars. Sprint-Booster makes the throttle feel more like old-fashioned cable linked throttles.

People have also had success removing the intake flap device in the air box.

You say "it is happening more frequently". It should be static, that is, constant. My '12 R-spec has been that way since new. My previous Hyundai, an '11 Santa Fe, had a condition that varied whether me or my wife drove it last. Hers would be quick and mine would be slow. On occasion it varied while just one person was driving it. I attributed it to the onboard computer making driving adjustments but it might not be related to that at all.

Please keep in mind that the data provided is for a V8, but the same concept maybe also applicable to the V6
 
There have been many posts complaining of delayed throttle response ever since the Genesis hit the market. Trying to accelerate after a "rolling stop" - i.e. trying to accelerate after slowing almost, but not quite, to a full stop seems to confuse the engine/transmission. Or fully stopping for just a fraction of a second before commanding acceleration again. My 2009 V8 will sometimes clunk as if there is a lot of driveline lash (slop); it's just the engine & transmission being out of sync with the vehicle as the vehicle goes from engine braking/deceleration to trying to accelerate again. The programming of the "drive by wire" throttle magnifies the issue; the ECU logic includes some kind of delay for emissions or fuel economy to certain combinations of throttle lift-then-slam driver commands.

As you get more used to the vehicle, you might find yourself mashing the pedal a bit harder than you're currently doing to compensate for the problem. It's when you command "a little more aggressive" acceleration that the problems seem to occur; demanding "go like stink" lead-footing it actually works better on my car in this rolling stop scenarios. If I come to a full stop for a second or more, everything works as I'd expect of a modern vehicle.

Sticking drive-by-wire mechanisms on the throttle itself was also common for a while if I remember correctly.

Has anyone tried to install at 2015 ? Or 2015 model these issues are fixed? I can't compare, since I didn't have earlier Genny , I had 2008!Sonata 2.0 T Limited, and there was no issue to slow response:) The turbo worked fantastic, and the car is lighter , so the response and acceleration was fast:)
 
I saw that post before,as I understood, it's affected earlier models,just wanted to find out ,if the issue is fixed to 2015, i isn't notice any slow response ,when I put in sports mode , it's really responsive. Could be any of these sprint booster would help ?

Best I can tell from my (hard) test drives of the V6 and both 5.0 trims, the ECU tuning is much better in the 2015 and did notice they did not suffers from this issue to same degree as the 2009-2014 models.

As far as sprint booster for the OP, from my research it may actually make things a little worse, not mention at $299 it is rather expensive, especially when compared to the $2 mod. which may have a positive impact for his reported issue.

Just my two cents...

I've never noticed any lack of throttle response with my '13 RSpec. Was out with the DW today for lunch, and didn't notice anything. Even told her to hang on when I did about a 40% throttle start from a stop light. Plenty of response.

Just curios, with all the necessary equipment and knowing the ECU , like somebody in dealership would be able to adjust anything:) ? You know what I mean :)

You must be used to flooring it from a stop. Dun do dat!
 
I've never noticed any lack of throttle response with my '13 RSpec. Was out with the DW today for lunch, and didn't notice anything. Even told her to hang on when I did about a 40% throttle start from a stop light. Plenty of response.

The issue is more noticable from a rolling stop. A complete stop is usually not a problem on the launch. I suspect that's because only a complete stop actually gets the tranny down into first gear before you hit the gas.

Rolling stop lag is gone with my Sprint Booseter. WOT from a dead stop is still reasonably delayed. I think this is hardwired into the Genesis's ECU programming to minimize drivetrain shock. It would seem putting full power through the PT from a stop would be more jarring than from a rolling stop.

But to be fair, you also have "Short Ram Intake- Spectre Cone Filter" which may have a significant impact on the Rolling stop lag, as well as the WOT from dead stop. Just my two cents...

Given the results of the recent change to my filter box, I would concour with this observation.
 
I did the 'flapper mod'. It make a big difference. I added a post in the original thread.
