And now I remember why I got rid of my black cars....
Just picked up my new Black/Black Genesis 4.6 Tech and it was covered with micro-scratches! Argh!
I'm taking it back to the dealer so he can buff these micro-scratches out. I've used 3M Fill and Glaze to do this but what a job! Let them do it.

So...to eliminate these in the future, I am returning to my Black Car Regimen which is based on the following items, both of which are STELLAR!
Go to the LustreLab site and read just HOW to wash a car. You'll be amazed and the product is a MUST for a black or dark car owner.

Same with Liquid Glass. After the sun "sets-up" the Liquid Glass, it acts just like it's name- Repelling microscratches, microdust, and even brake dust on the wheels.

All I to tell you folks, is this is the best regimen I've found after 40+ years of automobile anal-retention.
It's going to rain today so I'm not taking my Genesis out...does that give you any idea?;)

One of the disadvantages of buying a new car. The other disadvantage is that you have to walk a lot further from the parking lot into the store/office and back.

Last Black car I had, I swore I'd never get another black.

I did get a dark maroon, (burgundy) and it was almost as bad as black.

Light colors are best. Don't show the dirt. Don't show micro scratches. The only way to go. IMHO

I went for a light color but I find that Mr. Clean AutoDry to wash a car does work to eliminate the drops on dark colors with no work - just let it dry

In addition to the above, if you live the warmer climates, or in places with intense sunlight (Rocky Mountain states), light cars are also much cooler in the sun. I always try to get silver or light beige because white is obviously to hard to keep looking good (my Genesis is the platinum metallic).

Next time you are in a parking lot on a warm sunny day, put your hand on various cars to feel the temps. The differences can be dramatic.

Of course if you live in the snow belt, a dark color helps keep the snow accumulation off.

nothing better than a clean black car. of course its stays clean only until the first time you drive it, and then its dirty again :D

I have a question about the Liquid Glass... When I picked up my Genesis, (sapphire blue) They put some kind of protection on the paint. They called it a fabric coating to protect the paint, especially dark colors. Water is supposed to bead up and dust is supposed to fall off. Would I need Liquid Glass, or would that be redundant?

IMHO....I would heartily recommend a coating of Liquid Glass. There is no other product that I've used that does the complete protection that LG offers.
IMHExperience...the products the dealers sell is for profit enhancement and not paint/shine enhancement.
Congrats on that color combo. That was my first choice. It's a beautiful color!

So, are you recommending to put the liquid glass over the product that is already put on by the dealer?

Absolutely, from my experience.
However, if it was make you feel better, I might suggest contacting Liquid Glass. They are amazing!

How do you know they actually put it on? Even if they did, it is probably just a liquid wax like you get at a car wash.

There are a ton of products out there that do a great job and can last for several months depending on the conditions you live in and how often you drive the car. I have tried scores of products and found them to all be better than the stuff the dealers apply. I use liquid glass on my clear bra but don't really like it on the paint. I really like zaino if the paint is in perfect condition and pinnacle and meguiars if the car is a little older. One other thing I can recommend is when your are done washing the car use a leaf blower and blow the water off the car. It's a great way to dry the car and avoid putting microscratches in the finish, which can happen when you dry with towels or microfiber cloths.

i just wanted to say, the winter has been extremely rough on my black 4.6. a lot of small scratchs and scuffs on the front bumper and sides ( i don't have mud guards). Today after washing my car, i used liquid glass for the first time and I wanted to just say i was very impressed with the procedure.

once the wax dried, i simply used two microfiber towels and the wax rubbed off so easily with no trouble, leaving behind an extremely impressive shine. of course the scratches didn't disappear but i feel better knowing that after i put on a few more coats throughout this month, the car will have a beautiful deep shine and a clear "glass" coat that will help with protecting my paint and clearcoat.

honestly i am just so happy with the deep shine. when i parked my car in the garage in the evening, the way the garage light bounced off the car was pure sexual eruption.

And for those Micro-scratches, give your car a coat of 3M Fill N' Glaze. It has a ultra-fine nano-abrasives that will remove towel scratches. Then, top it with another coat of Liquid Glass. Both are easy on and easy off.
The Liquid Glass will protect against further towel scratching.

That's what I love the most about new cars, Mark. I feel so well exercised when I walk 1/4 of a mile in the Walmart parking lot:D When I was young I used to envy people with the handicap parking badges. Now I shudder when I see them!;)

I put Liquid Glass on my car this weekend and give it a "Flyboy Thumbs Up". I love the way the residue wipes off with no dust. Car looks better then on the showroom floor. Whoever recommended it to the site. Thanks. It's now going on my SC 430. A bit pricey but I love it.

Lustrelab left streaks on my car after the rinse. I didn't measure the mixture exactly so I will not post any comments (positive or negative) at this time. Next wash I will measure exactly. Stay tunned.

Thanks to all who have raved about Liquid Glass! It amazes me that MeGuiars or Mother's hasn't bought them.
I've found the LustreLab "can" streak if you let the car surface dry.
Try this methodology....Mix up Liquid Glass Car Washing formula with a "2potato" pour of LXR. Mix into 1...1.5 gallons of COLD water.
Wash from the bottom up and rinse from the top down. Dry immediately using 100% cotton towels with NO fabric softener.
If you see any LustreLab streaking, simply wipe it off.
Using these two products together has kept my Genesis the shiniest black vehicle in the parking lot.
No matter how much rain dust/dirt and I get on it, it still turns heads and shines on through.
Please let me know your thoughts.

Many thanks for the product information. My 2010 is the first black car I have owned since my 1948 Studebaker Land Cruiser! That thing had thick baked on paint. My Genesis has those scratches you mentioned and I have been bothered by them. I found the LustreLab product at Amazon (it qualifies for free shipping). It won't hurt to give it a try.
