  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What tires did you replace the OEM with and how would you rate them?

Hankook S1 Noble2 stock size and so far so good better than the crappy Dunlops.

General Gmax as-03 245/35/20 and 255/35/20. Awesome tire for the money and much of the same makeup as the continental many people are buying

Homeofstone.

That's an interesting survey in that they rank the SO4 pole positions above the Conti DW. But for me at least on my R Spec, I'd rank them the other way. The DW seems to have better dry traction and also less road noise.

The problem with the surveys is that most people rate the tire when they've put less than 1k mi on them. If you read through the actual written reviews with longer usage times you will see consistent comments that the treadwear is pretty bad with the S04 (10-20k mi for many). With the DW's they are great initially, but get really noisy over time and the handling is much softer than other summer tires (trade off for the treadwear and comfort being slightly higher).

I currently have the DW's on my car with about 30k mi on them and they are ready to be replaced. I am satisfied with the wear, but not the noise or handling. Wish the MPSS came in 255/45/18 for my wheels...

I got 52,000 miles on my last set of Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus. Tires remained quiet for the 52k. Noise did increase in the last 5k or so but not by much. Needless to say I purchased another set of the Bridgestone Serenity.

Wow, I went to get my tires(OEM Michelin Energy Saver A/S) rotated at Discount Tire and come to find out that the right rear is down to 3/16"! Three guesses where my right foot has been positioned a lot! The other tires have between 5 and 8/16 depth remaining, but Discount Tire says because of lawyers, they won't put that tire on the front.

I'm not too bummed, as I am not at all impressed with these tires, due to impact harshness and very high noise levels on coarse road surfaces. Still doing research, but at this point, my top choice is the Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus, which has the #1 rating for Grand Touring All Season tires at Tire Rack. I also like the Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum, which also is reviewed very well, for the price. Lots of reviews of the Michelin Primacy MXM4s and the Bridgestone Serenity Plus indicate very good performance, but high road noise levels.

Finally getting rid of my OEM Dunlops on my 2009 Genny. 5 yrs old and I only have 32K on the car. The last snow storm I was white-knucking it with the Dunlops. Going with the Conti ExtremeContact DWS based of the reviews I've read here and on tire rack. It's suppose to snow here tomorrow, so they'll be put to the test right a way.

Many cars with High HP V8 engines wear the right rear tire fast. I always rotate the best tire to the right rear to keep the wear even on the set. Yes I swap sides. One of my cars has a staggered set up so I have to swap side to side or the right rear would be gone every 12k miles.

Greetings, I have a 2011 4.6 had Dunlop tires OEM.

At 1700 miles I changed to Continental DWS, first thing I noticed was the Steering was easier, very good in rain and good in snow.

I have 11000 miles on them and as you can read I do not put much milage on them. Did a rotate at 5700 miles and will be rotating again next week.
Tires still look new .

They cost just under 1000,00 they are worth it.

I did my research on Tire Rack.

Good luck and have fun

Update:

Well, I did buy tires, but I let the sales guy at Discount Tire talk me into a set of Yokohama YK-580, which now have about 40,000 miles on them and are close to needing replacement, instead of the Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus I had intended to get.

With respect to my primary goal of ride quietness, the Yokohamas have been OK, but I cannot say they have turned out to be any MORE quiet than the OE Michelin Energy Savers.

At this point, the Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus are still the #1 rated Grand Touring All Season tires in the Tire Rack reviews of that category of tire, and I think I am going to give them a shot next. But I did want to ask if any members have had any good or bad experience with any other tires on their Genesis here lately.

I've had the OEM Dunlops on my 2010 and replaced with Conti's at about 40,000 miles. Those were good replacements.

I had the OEM Michelin mileage savers on my 2012 and got 54,000 miles which I thought was good for OEM's. I just replaced them with Goodyear Eagle F1's. Best tires of the four sets. Really quiet and pretty sticky in the corners. However, I do think I've lost a couple mpg's on these compared to the Michelins.

I chose the Pirelli P Nero Zero (or vice versa) They do a very good job for my style of driving. A lot of your choice should go into how you drive. If you're mostly a performance driver, then buy accordingly. However, if you're like 95% of us who commute to work, kids soccer, grocery store, movies, restaurant, and drive within the limits of the law, then why buy a super high performance tire that will ride rough, have lots of road noise, and wear out faster than you can rotate your tires.

I had tried the Conti's DWS and absolutely hated them. Noisy, rough riding, and tread wear was mediocre. As always, your mileage may vary.

Update to the update:

Well, Discount Tire did not have the Cinturato P7s in stock, so I went with a set of Michelin Premier A/S. They did not have them in my size either, but they did have a set of one size taller ones. So far, I have been pleased with them with respect to my top two priorities of ride comfort and noise comfort.

Incidentally, it seems that the P235/55 size partially corrected my speedometer error, and they fit in the wheel wells just fine.

I replaced mine oem tires with Nitto Motivo. I've put about 22k on them and they are still flawless.

10k miles on Goodyear F1. I'm a Michelin fan but these are fantastic tires. Quiet and sticky.

Replaced the oem with ExtremeContact DWS. The reason why I bought them is the price I got from this shop-- 4wheelonline.com and secondly I want a set of tires that can perform well on different kinds of weather.

Thought I'd update my tire experience.

After the OEM Bridgestone Pole Position SO4 tires only lasted 17k miles, I put on a set of Conti Extreme Contact DW tires as a replacement. Same size as the originals, 245/45 ZR 19.

Well they lasted for 20K miles. Initial thought was that they gave a little more traction/ better grip than the OEM tires. After about 15k miles, that seems to change as I noticed that my ESC light seemed to be coming on more with spirited driving and only got worse up until I replaced them at 20K. I probably could have gotten more miles out of them IF I would have less spirited driving miles and quit doing a few burnouts with the car. But what's the sense of having a 5.0 R Spec if you don't enjoy it.

I had to have the front tires replaced after an accident which cut the tires so now that the rears had wore out, I replaced them with the DW's. Now all 4 tires are about the same on tread depth. Not sure if I'll stick with these or not next go around. But I should have 20K miles to figure that out.

Southern Boy, were those Generals square? What is the offset of your rims and are they flush? If so with or without the tires on? Any photos? Thanks in advance.

I have Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season on my 2015 Ultimate. Tires are SO MUCH BETTER from the OEMs. They are quieter, they hold better in the corners, the are smoother rolling. Better wear rating, 700AA vs the OEM 500AA. They have great wet weather abilities, I'm not Tokyo drifting in the rain though.. Decent in the snow, but then again for snow, you may want to have winter snow tires. But I love the Pirelli's I definitely recommend them. $203.85 each on Tire Rack.
