Car Wash - Neutral Disengage AEB?

Does putting the car in neutral disengage the AEB?

Not turning AEB off while entering a car wash could easily be overlooked until you've messed up and make a jerk out of yourself - with an audience. I'd venture a guess that most drivers are not thinking about disabling AEB before entering an automated car wash. Great question.

AEB does not function below 5 mph. Unless your car wash was designed by Ferrari, you have nothing to worry about.

I would disengage from entering an automated car wash in general. To much potential damage on wheels and paint. Watching brushes or cloths with road salt from the previous car embedded in them spin across the paint is too much to watch.

I leased the car and only get it machine washed (if it's to cold for me to do it myself) at my dealer. I have a 'reputation' for not driving dirty cars . Had I actually purchased the car and planned on keeping it for more than a couple of years the car would only be hand washed.

Hand washing is the best, but self-drive, no pull track car washes that use high pressure water can also work during the winter. There are also excellent waterless car washes (Optimum No Rinse Wash) that allow one to wash in the garage with a single bucket of water.

better to leave it filthy then go into a car wash. pay people to damage the car. Do you know what those panels underneath the car must cost. I realize its a lease and your paying but you will also have to pay for the damage. I worked in one in high school in Michigan , at closing we would walk through picking up license plates, antennas, molding even the occasional exhaust system parts . Not to mention the ones that reclaim the water and shoot ya with salt.

Just purchased my Genesis, and I was considering taking her in to one of these drive in car wash... Not anymore! Does anyone recommend a specific car soap/wax to keep her looking her best? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Search for forums on car care - lots of opinions, all worthy. HOW you wash the car can be just as important on what you wash it with - look for the 2 bucket wash and invest in a lambskin mit. The main thing is to get a car wash that is not harsh enough to strip your wax off and focus on what tools touch your car as you clean. Many of the polymer sealants go on easier than regular wax and can last longer - lots of choices there. Have fun.
