  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

As for dealer information. The dealer reported for MY vin reports my local dealer not my purchasing dealer. The site does NOT have any records of service for my car.
Are you sure you entered the VIN in correctly? Did you use all caps? Is you vehicle very new? Maybe if they could not find your vehicle in their database they just selected the closest dealer.

Is the website supposed to retrieve your maintenance records? I see a place to enter the maintenance performed, but not sure if service performed at a dealer is supposed to automatically appear (I have not had any service performed yet).

Each owner enters his own service info. The site doesn't appear to access anything on it's own--it appears to operate independently of any other (service-related) site/database. There are check boxes for what kind of info you'd like emailed to you, based on your interests. I tend to leave most boxes unchecked, that is, a limited amount of junk email sent to my inbox, but that's just me. I believe the dealer info is based on proximity to your mailing address, as mentioned before.

Based on the experience of Richard and myself, it is based on the where you purchased the car, assuming you entered in the VIN number correctly (try all CAPS). As I previously stated, it pulled up my purchase dealer even though there are 4 other dealers closer to me. Same experience appears to be the case with Richard.

Maybe someone can register with a bogus address (out of state) but with the correct VIN to see if they can find your dealer.

I agree that other than finding your dealer, all the other info is entered by the customer (at least for now).

Either way that website is weak... I bought my car in Maryland over 65 miles from home at Lenstoler.com. The closest dealer is Browns Manassas Hyundai (which wouldn't work a good deal - explains the 15 + Sedans that sit on the lot month after month).

I correctly entered the VIN.... nothing came up as far as an inservice date or anything - all the data is user entered.

Mine came up with the dealer where I purchased (125 miles from my home)

It may be obvious, but I'll say it- they have to allow for us to move. It's entirely possible that a purchasing dealer, when reporting the purchase to Hyundai, they could have a data entry goof. It's also possible that after a purchase is made and before registering on their site, an owner has moved a LONG WAY. They had to allow for that possibility.

I agree, it's a so-so site and THIS one is THE site! Would Hyundai take the GenesisOwners.com link off if one of us put it in a thread???!!!

OK...so my presumption is incorrect!

I agree...way better...but I suppose that was the intention of the creators!

Mission accomplished!

Since you are the only one with a certificate problem, that is doubtful.

Certificate issues are not subjective, thus not subject to opinion. There is a correct answer. wallymn is correct.

I tired Firefox on XP and got the same warning message, but I did not change any defaults. No warning messages with IE.

Received my packet today. Registered and like everyone else says, this is nothing to rave about. Good online tool to keep up with your G specifics although you have to enter them yourself. Very similar to a site I have seen with Nissan and Lexus. However, the Lexus site does have the maintenance records listed that you don't have to enter yourself. They are tied to the VIN, no matter who owned the car. I know, I am comparing apples to oranges. But if Hyundai wants to play with the Big Boys, they still have a ways to go and need to step it up a little.

Got my packet as well for the Gen yesterday. Seems they must have sent it out in BULK on the same day.

It contained the little note about Carbon Offsets and it was nifty that they printed it on Recycled paper! HA!

It also containd the Roadside Assistance card.
