  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I learned this the hard way. This is what happened.
Went to near by restaurant to get some food, get out of my car walked towards the restaurant, food wasn't ready so I waited inside. Now its freezing in NY so I kept my heater and h.seats running basically car running. Now we all know we can't lock the car with the key fob while it's running so I tried something different. Looking at my car from window I tried to lock it from bluelink app now I got the message on phone that car is now locked okay but I was still waiting for the blinkers to flash but they didn't so I thought that it's not lock anyway I got my food and walked towards my car, guess what it was Locked, I'm like okay let me unlock this. I started looking for my keys now I'm standing out side in freezing trying to get inside my car but I can't I'm locked outside  there was no way to get in, I started panicking pressing unlock button so many times, try to press the button on the door but no luck, now I walked away from my car back to the restaurant open bluelink app send unlock request but guess what the app is showing message server is busy try again later I'm like whaaaat. Then I killed the app log back in send the unlock request again this time went through okay now walked back towards the car and it was unlocked I sat inside and fewwww nice toaste seats. Lesson learned never lock car from bluelink app while running.

Now don't ask me why didn't I use the valet key to open the door. I'm playing with that tiny button on my key fob for the past two months whenever I'm holding my keys in my hand. :/ I was having panic attack.

My suggestion to Hyundai USA is that they should give the key fob master access to lock and Unlock car.

What kind of food did you order?

Glad I wasn't the only one wondering what kind of food it was :-D.

OP s**** happened.
Live and learn.
BTW, didn't know you could remotely lock the car while the engine is running.
May be Hyundai BL will take note on this.
The replies are quite entertaining however.

Thanks for your kind response senior members :-/
I was just trying to help junior members.

Next time I'll mention that in the thread.

Wasn't trying to be a jerk, sorry it came off that way.

First thing I believe I read re: Bluelink is that the CAR NEEDS TO BE TURNED OFF!! But I very well may have tried the same thing. Now I know!

If I'm reading it correctly the only thing that kept you from unlocking via Bluelink was that the server was busy... as long as you know you'll also need to unlock via bluelink it seems like you CAN lock and unlock via bluelink while car is running... no?

Yes he said he did just that.

Lots of good food in New York (city at least). Do tell!!!

There used to be some good food carts down around Water Street; I miss the Gyro with whatever that red sauce is that I've never been able to identify or find since. I don't think it was hot sauce; was kind of sweet.

Though I believe it was based on some kind of chili, to my palette (and that was before my tastebuds became Texanized), it wasn't hot at all; sweet, but not catsup. I Googled "red gyro sauce" and a bunch of hits came up, but I'm sure it has a name.

Yeah, but he also said "Lesson learned never lock car from bluelink app while running." I thought maybe I missed something.... why learn the lesson if the blue link worked? I'll just try it myself... it gets to be 120* here in the summer so a locked running car would be a good thing to have!:D

Yes I did say that, learned in a way never to lock car while running. Cz the blulink is not reliable at all, works only 50% of the time. What if you locked your car with remort app, now you need to get in your car in case of emergency, the process would be wait for good 2-3 mins the login process then unlocking request while standing next to the door like stupid. Oh and wait you can't stand next to the door cz you have to be 15 feets alway so yea I think its stupid . what I think they should give the actual key fob the master access to lock & unlock doors even if it was lock with bluelink app.
