My car is due for its scheduled maintenence in a few days and I was wondering about the front footwell air vents.

When the climate control system is set to blow air to anywhere else but the footwell, you can still feel a faint but significant leakage of air in the footwell. Both passenger and driver side are the same... I was wondering if this is normal, as I don't want the dealer to disassemble something if it's normal.

My car has the opposite problem. Even when set to blow air to the footwells, there is little or no airflow. I am going to have it looked at at my next scheduled service - although if these Arctic temperatures (-24deg.C/-11deg.F) continue, maybe sooner!

Agree CanukV6...I noticed for the first time this week (minus 26) that I had no heat in the footwell area...my lower extremities froze on my 1 hour drive to work no matter which heat setting I selected...

Noticed the same thing with mine the other day, but I haven't player around with the settings yet.
Although I did note that on a previous occasion as soon as I tried to "redirect" the vents, it shut off my "auto" setting. I need to play with it and see what is actually happening, cause "auto" never seems to direct air to the footwells.

The fan from the heated and cooled seats does create a draft into the footwell. You can check it yourself with the smoke from an incense stick.

According to my dealer it's not just my car, they showed me another genesis's with the same leakage and told me it's normal, but that they will ask Hyundai... So for the moment no fix.

I am not having this problem however I find I do not leave the seat on for very long as it gets way too warm so this may have some bearing on the draft you guys are complaining about.

Any updates on the subject?
My dealer told me that "all Hyundai's are like that and they can't do anything about it".
Heated/ventilated seat draft is a different issue/feature. I'm talking about air leak in the footwell even with the seats heat/vent turned off. My toes are freezing, not the calves. I'm missing BMW's separate selectors for front and all other vents.

I have to agree with your dealer. My Azera had this issue and I had to take it off "auto", set it for the footwells and bump it up about 4 or 5 degrees to keep the feet warm. I have already noticed similar behaviour from the G2 on days it has gotten down to the 40's.

Thanks for the reply. I think it is totally unacceptable for $50K+ car that tries to compete with 5-series and E-class...

I actually don't mind to keep all vents working on the cold days, but on the hot days, when I set interior temperature to 68-70F, my feet are freezing while it is still hot on the top. Vented seats help, but it's not a solution in any way...

OK - that I do not have a similar problem with. I set mien for auto at 72 and it blows cold all over. In the winter I only notice the lack of heat on the feet.

It should not blow cold air all over if only top vents were manually selected. I don't want to get cold air in the footwell - only from front, side and windshield vents. Seems like it is impossible to achieve.
