  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

As I reported in another thread I had a sleazy experience with a NJ dealer (sold car out from under my deposit), and I wanted to relate my experience to Hyundai. I called Consumer Affairs and relayed the info to the rep who is part of the "Genesis Team". I wanted to speak to the factory rep who covered my area. Today I spoke with the Eastern Region Consumer Affairs Manager. I nicely relayed my experience and he was very cordial, showed interest in the details, and let me know that they take action with dealers who are acting improperly. They have no direct control over a dealer since they are completely independent businesses. But he said they planned to meet with the dealer I raised and my case would be one of the topics discussed with them. I also got the chance to talk about the very good experience I had with another dealer, from whom I bought my car.
The point is the Hyundai does seem to care about the buying experience, and if you have something good or bad to say about it you should call Consumer Affairs.
By the way I was surprised that he was not aware of this website and I expect he will now be tuned in to the chatter here.

Thank you.. Would you happen to have the Consumer Affairs phone number? I have a feeling they'd be happy to have us publicize it so that they can keep in touch with what's going on with their customers and potential customers.

National number: HMA Consumer Affairs is 800-633-5151

They will give your regional office number if are you are persistent. They seem to have a dedicated team for Genesis issues.

Great! Thank you very much!

I'm shopping for a car and the Genesis is at the top of my list, BUT I'm getting either the runaround or inaccurate information from (two so far) local dealers. I test drove a car a week ago, and still don't have a price. I'm in SE New York.
Can you recommend a dealer- perhaps the one you ultimately bought from? I'm willing to travel 100 miles give or take from 10960...

What's up with dealers? I went to my local Audi dealership, and the salesman was so apathetic that I nearly left without driving the car!

Move to Knoxville, TN! The local dealer where I bought mine is Grayson Hyundai. (They also own a very nice BMW franchise, as well as Pontiac, Chrysler and Subaru) They were pretty good to work with--the details of my deal are elsewhere on this site. Plus, HMFC is offering .9% APR for up to 48 months in Tennessee...that will potentially save you a TON--plus, there's no state income tax (save you a TON MORE) and the weather is a lot better! The 'quality of life' is so much better...IMHO! I grew up in the Chicago area...I KNOW about bad weather!

Don't overlook buying services from the likes of COSTCO, SAMS, AAA, USAA, etc. They usually provide some basic screening to get competent dealers in their programs. The programs will also "connect" you to the internet sales person at the dealer, who, more often than not,is one of the more knowledgeable. You can do pretty well with "no haggle" pricing as well. Welcome to the site. :welcome:

Thanks guys, your comments and advice are much appreciated.

Dan, I think we have a few Floridians left, want some more..? :D

I would point out however that you have 9.25% sales tax, whereas where I live it is only 6% +0.5% on the first $5K. Tennessee also charges sales tax on food, which is exempt in FL.

Track your purchases and it's deductible from your Federal Income Tax.

Response: Hyundai Consumer Affairs

Does anyone have the direct telephone number or Email address for Hyundai Consumer Affairs?
When one dials the HMA Consumer Affairs, 800-633-5151 one is sent into voice mail hell with all kinds of choices. They need a dedicated Genesis line and Email address.
If anyone at Hyundai Genesis is listening, now is your chance to make a difference!

Vehicles does not fall under the 9.25% tax. it is 7% on vehicles, motorcycles, etc.

agreed on tracking major purchases for tax return time (vehicles, TV's, computers, etc)

I grew up in PA and they had an ok tax % back then, no tax on food, clothes, shoes, but also had a state tax on top of the federal tax.

(also lived in Ocala, FL for a few years before coming to TN). I agree on the area. It is beautiful and after living in the pittsburgh area (grew up there), living in Tulsa, OK, and Ocala, I love East TN.

(ok. now to go back on topic)

Hey Grayson--

Glad you decided to join this forum! I wonder if it was from some prompting from me???!!!

I purchased from you back in August...the sales mgr. told me I bought the first Genny in town. Don't know if that was true or not, but I really enjoy the car.

Thanks!!

I found this site due to a google search on the coupe. I am pretty sure you did get the first sedan that we had.

We sponsor a couple of Subaru and Jeep based forums and are looking forward to participating in a Hyundai based forum as well. I will be glad to offer a dealer perspective on anything that I can.

If you are in the area, stop by and see the coupe we just got in.

I live just a few miles from the dealership, so I'll do that sometime...should I ask for you? If so, what's your name? And congrats on moving the Hyundai dealership to the original (but no more) Pontiac lot. Nicer building, more space, etc., etc....

Regardless of how you got here, glad you've joined!
