  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Remote start

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Anybody have a remote starter installed ?also does it forfeit the warranty ?

What year is your car? Mine has BlueLink which allows remote start from the iPhone app. I think that is 2013 & 14 only.

A member Glassman has had a remote start installed on his Genny, not sure what year it is, definitely not '13 or '14. I hope he will chime in soon.

Have had Hyundai remotes install on both my 2011 & 2013 Genesis. Both worked great and is Dealer installed so no Warranty worries.:)

How much did it cost you?

PS
Ignore my question. Didn't notice you are in BC Canada.

No problem, my Wife works for the Hyundai Dealership and her cost was $425 installed. The remote would be the same unit on either side of the Border.

It should be about the same there even at retail pricing.

is there a part number for that remote start?

The part # on my invoice shows---1-011EP-HY2919 2 WAY RS KIT.

The # used in the States maybe difference. The Genesis Sedan in Canada are equipped differently than US models.

Good luck.

Got a viper remote installed at best buys. Wife bought it for me for Xmas, but think it was maybe $250 or less installed. Works ok for line of sight and from inside house. I can upgrade to the phone app for another 100 or 150 (I forget) and about a $5/month subscription.
It's nice to be in my house and start it up when it's in the driveway. I would like to sit at my desk at work and do the same thing, but no way unless you get the phone app.

Generally Remote starters should not have any affect on an automatic transmission cars warranty. As they are basically plug and go. If you have a manual tranny vehicle then it may as they have to put in a clutch override module which includeds cutting wires and wiring harness'
I have not looked directly into the Genesis though.

I have a remote starter and just had some warranty work done without the dealer mentioning a thing. I can imagine that if you had the car towed in because it wouldn't start and the dealer discovered that it was due to some altered wiring or something else linked to the remote starter install that you might get a hard time...

I just wonder about the warranty ? Will it be effected

If you install the Hyundai remote there's no way that your warranty can be affected as you are installing a Hyundai part.:) If you go to an aftermarket system then there might be questions depending what the issue has been.

Just called to Hyundai dealership in Longview Texas they said they could not find where there was a option for 2012 remote starter.

I believe it would be the same part # as I had one also on my 2011 Genesis.

This is an accessory that is Dealer installed it is not an option from the Factory.

A friend of mine that manages a custom sounds in Austin says there are a few options out on the viper website. I haven't looked yet but i had a viper on my VW and never had a problem with it.

From my experience installing Alarms/Remote starts, the units are only as good as the installer. I am a huge fan of Audiovox and Omega (Excalibur) security systems. Omega makes life so easy on some units with a BLADE system. You can program this card/blade that has all options you want in the car and slide it in the alarm brain. Less wires and heartache!! DEI (Viper, Python, Hornet, Valet, etc) are great but they are all the same. Again, it is all about the installer.
Push start bypass can be a pain sometimes if you dont know what you are doing.

Just my 2 cents...
