  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anybody have any experience using this? I used it yesterday to see if I could remove some gravel damage on my lens. And it turned out to make things worse. The original damage is gone but now the lens has a cloudiness to it.
I wouldn't recommend this product.

I am going to get some wet dry sand paper and sand it in steps then give it a good Polish.
I think the problem was the 3M kits sand paper kept clogging and the Polish in the kit just isn't good enough

If the paper kept clogging, you should have wet it. That is the whole premise of wet sanding.

I, personally, take a buffer and come polishing compound to my headlights if they haze. I use mothers plastic polish to prevent hazing in the first place though.

I have used the 3m headlight restore on my older vehicles, I view their kit as primarily being for last generation halogen headlights which did not have this crystal clear lens such as our headlights do. Definitely get some fine grit sand paper and work up through 5000 grit and your results will be spectacular with patience of course ^^

No its a 4 step process. Two dry sanding one wet sanding and a Polish. The issue is the wet sand paper was 3000grit. So not quite fine enough and the Polish can't quite get it perfect. So I am just going to do a couple more steps with finer sand paper

Yeah and that's the finishing grit they give with the kit. managed

Is there some sort of UV sealant with this kit? Otherwise, you've removed the UV coating on the lens and the lens may turn yellow rather quickly.

No sealant. This is just a short term solution. Big picture I will be replacing both headlights.

I will for sure. Thanks for the tip.

Either way I have to replace them eventually. The rock chips damage drives me crazy. The front end will be repainted, the grilles and headlights replaced and the lenses forbade cruise control will be sanded and polished. I used the car to commute year round. On an 1800km one way trip. And the gravel they use in the area is a paint and plastic killer.
