Parking Sensor Issues

Hey All,

My front parking sensors are acting up. I have issues when, after driving and park, the parking sensors won't work. In order for them to see the sensors working, I have to shift my car to Reverse before seeing anything come up, otherwise, I'm parking blind.

Unfortunately, in an attempt to figure out wtf was wrong with them, I ended up love-tapping a few walls.

I love my car, and this isn't a complaint about my new Genesis, but cars these days, I feel have too much tech on them. And the problem really happens when you rely on it too much.

Has anybody experienced this problem?

Is your parking assist button turned on? If that is off, the sensors will only work when the car is put into reverse. Another thing to try is cleaning the sensors. This past winter I had an instance where the sensors were erratic until I cleaned the salt and winter road grime off of them.

I am having similar issues with my front sensors. When operating mormally they show both the right and left sides when entereing and leaving the garage as well as the front wall when I approach it. Tonight none of them worked as they should. I will look in to this further as we have handicapped plates and od not want to hit the parking signs.

The rear sensors are always on

The front sensors have to be activated with a console switch - and the "on" light is very faint

Problem identified! The switch was off for the same reason the window lock button is someimes activated. Our dog like to hang our the window when we drive around the neighborhood and she occasionally steps on these buttons going back and forth

On the subject of Parking Sensor Issues: I am experiencing random warning beeping from the front Parking Sensors when operating my Escort Passport 9500ix radar detector. Anyone else?

I'm still zeroing in on the issue with experimentation to make sure it isn't the Autonomous Emergency Braking System, but this is my current conclusion. When I turn off one or the other -- radar detector or Parking Assist -- the beeping warning doesn't happen.

Based on my rudimentary knowledge it sort of makes sense that they might interfere with each other. The radar detector does emit signals that might set off the Parking Sensors.

Yup - BMW X3's set off mine if I'm stopped behind one. Definitely potential for cross talk with all of the electronics in these cars. Makes one wonder how an autonomous car could ever work (not that I ever want one - I like to actually drive myself).

I suspect that his parking sensor button was off.

My front ones just work when ever they damn well please - rears work normally.

Sometimes I can get the fronts to read briefly if I cycle the switch. Then it will go right back to "!" in the IP cluster.
