  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So I now have 3 different types of leather in my R-spec.

So I am absolutely pissed.
When I bought the car they replaced the driver seat bottom leather. But the leather they put in was in worse shape thankless leather they took out. So they replaced it again. And it is extremely loose fitting and is a slightly different texture. Not quite as glossy as the original leather. The service manager explained they have a different supplier now so it would never be perfect. I said ok to the slightly different texture but wouldn't budge on the fact that it wasn't fit properly. And left it as a to be continued.
Today I took the car in because the rear right seat developed a hard shiny spot. Which they claimed was from a spill. Which it wasnt as no foot or drinks are allowed in my back seats.(kids) Either way they say it was cause by me or my children. Fortunately paid for extended second party interior warranty. And they Are covering it. Great! Or So I thought. I just picked up my car and the panels they replaced are of yet another texture of leather. But this texture is drastically different. Instead of the smooth leather that's in the car this is a lumpy textured leather.
I will post some photos.
This is absolutely driving me insane. And I am not sure what to do about it.
What do you guys think? Am I being too OCD or would you guys be as pissed as I am.

Last but not least. The rear seat. The first two are of the replaced panels. The close up you can clearly see the difference between the textures.
The third is of the original panels on the other side of the rear seats

P.s. I am aware of the irony of the water bottle sitting on the floor of my rear seat after I said no food or drink is allowed in my back seat. Haha

I'm with you. This would be totally unacceptable to me. I would fight with the dealer until I was satisfied. Maybe they can contact Hyundai to attempt to source material that more closely resembles the original. If not available, I would ask them to replace all of the leather so it matches.

Thank you. That's what my feelings are on it. If you cant match the leather that's in it. Replace all of it. I am patient enough to wait for them to source the original leather too. I don't mind waiting. I just want it done right.

Also. Today they were supposed to try and refit the driver seat leather to see fifthly could tighten it up. Which they didn't do. And they also didn't wash the car or give it a vacuum. Which is standard practise usually at this dealership. You'd think it was a Friday.

Man, sorry to tell ya but....it looks like shit and definitely not acceptable by my standards. I'd be pissed as hell.
I am afraid there is nothing you can do about it or a dealer. There was another member here, a few months ago with the same problem - they replaced his driver seat bottom leather and the leather was loose with the color little bit different, just like yours. I've seen his car in person.

Haha you don't have to be sorry to tell me what I already know. I just sent hyundai motors Canada a long email explaining the situation and how angry I am and attached a large number of photos. And I have an appointment with the dealerships management tomorrow morning. Hopefully I don't just get nicely told to go pound sand.

As long as you are under warranty, I think you are being well within reason with your requests. I must say that the new driver seat leather looks the same texture wise. The loose fit though is certainly a problem however. The rear seats though, that's just bad.

It is very close. But it's almost a more brushed look than a smooth shiny look. But it's close enough that if it fit properly I would be happy with it. It will likely blend even better as it wears.
And yes I am well within warranty

What irony? Your kids (?) probably spilled water on your rear seat. It sat for enough time to damage the leather. Then, instead of blaming them you "may have" told the dealer a porkie.

Yes cause water would cause a super hardened high gloss spot on leather.
My kids do not get food and drink in the car.
My truck is free range. But the car is a no go.

Edit: for the record that is my wifes water bottle for at the gym.

Soooo. Update. Went in for meeting with the service manager and the owner of the dealership. They are replacing the mismatched leather in the rear and replacingbthe entire seat base of the drivers seat, leather, cusion and all. All being covered by the dealership Outside of my warranty.

Sounds like a reasonable solution. Hope everything goes well for you.

Holy hell. How they think things like that are ok is beyond me.

Glad they are replacing the whole seat and hope that you have a full interior that matches. Suck if you get two seats that are different in color.
