I went to drive the Genny to the Twin Cities. I wanted to use the GPS system also as I wasn't familiar with where I was going. The battery was dead, dead, dead. I jumped the car and found the trunk lid wasn't closed. The DW's Explorer will shut off interior lights, if left on, before the battery is dead. The Genesis obviously doesn't.

Then it got worse. I headed out and found out that the touch screen, GPS, and audio system continued to be dead. Drove 20 miles to be sure battery was charged up, turned car off, and restarted it. Still nothing from those systems. The HVAC was working, however.

Today, I checked fuses (nothing blown) and than unhooked the battery for any hour. After hooking the battery back up, things are now back to normal---------------but why would jumping the car not also activate the touch screen etc???

You might want to check the "Battery Questions" thread.

Lots of weird stuff going on with that little 60 lb. AGM battery in your trunk.

The manual says (page 7-42) to fix it with a trickle charger - yeah, right.

My wife has done that twice now and my cousin ('12 3.8) once. You need a firm hand when closing the trunk apparently.

When attempting to charge the battery back up I found one of my chargers would not work but another one did (neither are trickle chargers). Have no idea why.

The internet has a ton of conflicting information and disinformation on charging agm batteries. And the Genesis manual at p. 7.42 is not even self-consistent. I.e., it states the battery should be charged with a trickle charger if discharged by the headlights being left on. Yet, the car is supposed to shut the headlights off when not in use. And, of course, be sure to have a spare car, as the process takes ten hours.

For many years, I have charged agm batteries with a "smart charger" which has an agm charging option. Never had any problem.

I am concerned about jump starting than battery charging. Can we jump a Genesis to get it started?

I can only help with the 2015 genesis V8 since that is what I bought. With that car, you most definitely jump it. Page 6-4 of the manual.

The battery is in the trunk - two access terminals are up front on the pass. side.

One is in the fuse box - the other is in the fender under a little round dust cap.

Look for + and - markings.

And start the donor car and leave it running.

P.S., I just moved my jumper cables from my Sonata to my Genny - something is wrong here.

That's how I got it started------as stated in the OP. What I don't know is why the touch screen didn't light back up after the car was running. Had to totally disconnect the battery for a while before it started working again.

There are terminals on the RH inner fender for jump starting. They're under a cover that has to be unsnapped for access.

Thanks. It's the same layout on the Gen 1 Genesis. I saw some posts about trickle charging and wanted to make sure jumping was safe with these newer type batteries.
