  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just recently took delivery of a 2015 Genesis that was built in June 2014. I know there was a recall on some models during that time period because of moisture getting into the tail lamps and affecting transmission electronics. Is there a way for me to check online and see if my car is part of the recall? thanks!

You can call any dealer and give them your VIN, and they can look up in their computers if there are any outstanding recalls. There may be some optional TSP's they might not mention, but they should tell you about any official recalls or mandatory service campaigns that are outstanding on your vehicle. Any Hyundai dealer can look this up.

MyHyundai.com will show all active recalls and campaigns. Once you start the process to schedule a service appointment, it'll give you the option to select any that haven't yet been done to your vehicle. You can start the process just to see this menu without actually scheduling the appointment.

If the dealership did not do the mods, they violated the T's & C's of Hyundai's program and they broke federal law. A quote from the program notice to dealers:

"As required by federal law, dealers must not deliver new vehicles for sale or for lease to customers
until all open recalls have been performed.
Dealers must also perform all open recalls on used
vehicles, demo and rental vehicles prior to placing them into customer use and whenever an
affected vehicle is in the shop for any maintenance or repair.
When a vehicle arrives at the Service Department, access
Hyundai Motor America's "Warranty
Vehicle Information" screen via WEBDCS to identify open Campaigns."

This is correct. However, just so that no one is confused, it does not apply to all TSB's (Technical Service Bulletins), only to Official Recalls, or other mandatory "campaigns."

For some "campaigns" the owner is not notified, but the dealer must perform the fix if the vehicle is brought into the dealership by the customer for some other reason, and must apply the fix to all vehicles in inventory (new or used) before it is sold. For "Official" Recalls, the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) is notified and the vehicle owner must be notified by mail, and the above rules apply about fixing inventory before it is sold.
