New BlueLink app available on Ultimate

I just happened to get to a meeting early and was nosing around on my 9" ultimate navigation system, and came across this app. I had to run into the meeting before I could figure out how to get it to work, but it looks interesting. I'd love to hear from anyone who gets it to work...

I installed it too - but it doesn't appear to be "working" yet? Will have to reach out to Hyundai to understand why the app can be downloaded and installed but doesn't work yet?

Just tried to DL the new app. Said I need a subscription. Im not paying $298.00 a year for that. Went to DL it again and it said connection failure. ugh. a free app that needs a costly subscription to use. C'mon Hyundai. Sonata and Veloster get all kinds of cool things and we pay $50k + and get this? Hmmmmm.

I can't ever get the apps to work, always says it can't download or connect or etc. so I just don't bother with it now.

I then went to MyHyundai.com and the Blue Link Section.
There are sections there for Geofence, Valet, Speed and Curfew.

I set Valet, Geofence and Speed.

When I drove beyond the .25 miles I had set Valet for, the first thing was a warning on the screen that said "Valet Alert" and you had to OK it. No email notification. Lot of good that does. Just lets the Valet know.

Geofence worked fine. Got the notification on the screen and an email.

Same with Speed Alert.

If you go to Notification History on MyHyundai.com and Blue Link you will see all of the alerts including Valet with locations where each occurred.

It doesn't show bread crumbs, but gives an address near to where the alert happened.

I guess this is good if you use valet a lot (only if it logged it and emailed or text messaged you) or if you have kids and you set a speed and geofence restriction. otherwise I see not point to this for me or my wife.

I would agree. I don't have much use for it. I just wanted to test out the app. One thing I did notice on the speed alert, it only gives an alert the first time you go over the alert limit and it doesn't give the speed. So it really isn't much of a help.

Roll it out so they have it. However, certainly not a mature or useful service. Does more harm to intro a 90 percent incomplete product than having nothing at all.

These used to be grayed out on MyHyundai.com, but now they're active. I think they're mainly designed for parental controls. They probably don't allow breadcrumbs for privacy reasons.

I think the functionality for notifications sent to your smartphone are forthcoming in the Genesis app update. They're already in the regular Bluelink Android/iOS app.

I try to never valet. When I was in high school in Miami Beach, I had a friend who had a summer job as a valet car parker at the Fontainebleau Hotel. He told me he would punish cars that didn't start quickly or that he didn't like. He is now an attorney. Enough said.
