  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Signature vs Signature & Tech

Funny. I prefer the auto-sensing wipers on my Gen to my wife's intermittent wipers on her RX350.

You're allowed. The thing that's irksome to me about the rain-sensing wipers is that they often don't swipe when you'd like them to and, too often, they jump into the fastest speed mode when they don't need to be going that fast. At least you have control over the speed range with the standard intermittent wipers. The rain-sensing wipers are just one more expensive thing to repair after the warranty ends.

I'm assuming you have experimented with turning the intermittent frequency control for the wipers, to help set how quickly they respond to mist, etc...

You assume correctly. No available adjustments cure the problems I have detailed above.

These rain-sensing wiper issues appear to happen to a decent-sized portion of vehicles but most seem fine. I think it's an adjustment or programing issue because they work well for most people.

For those of us that use RainX or other such tech, rain sensing wipers are generally a pain. They set off way too early with window coatings. Although it does adjust for the rain coating somewhat. Not enough. Many of us do not run with them on anyway on the highway using RainX (or others). No need for wipers except to wipe off any building road grime over a long distance.

I think most folks here will confirm that the rain-sensing wipers often go into hyper speed unnecessarily. Then you have to manually set them to a slower speed.

my experience is that the rain sensing wipers are not sensitive enough. I find myself having to switch on the wipers manually
